anthony916
Im getting mix info on the topic would like to hear what everyone thinks. Will a turbo be safe and reliable on a b20/vtec? The car/motor is relatively stock besides the head.
BrIaN EG2
no. if you want safe and reliable under boost you're going to need pistons, rods, balanced crank, and you will also need to sleeve the block.. cylinder walls on a B20 are too thin to handle boost above 10 - 15psi.. frankenstine builds arent relatively reliable to begin with and adding boost will just be an added headache without doing supporting mods to help the engine be more reliable
..SSR..
If you keep it in the 180-200whp range with a good tune it will be reliable if the engine is in good shape to start with. Reliable is subjective when it comes to anything to is built, especially turbo setups.
jdmYolo9902
not very reliable unless you do the works or at least some... normal oem pistons and stuff usually wont hold boost very good till they give or cause problems
..SSR..
Yes they will as long as the power is kept relatively low and the tune is good so there is no detonation.
