29guy
my friend has a 96 honda civic ex that had a vtec in it. they got the engine swapped and it is now a non vtec, now it is throwing a check engine light on at all times. we were told that it needs a new ecu to correct this. my question is, is there a way to rewire the harness or buy a connector that can adapt to the vtec ecu? or do they need to buy another ecu? I am not car smart but i can make do when needed. Is there anything that i can do?
James Matteu
The ECU is looking for the VTEC solenoid. Remove the solenoid from the old motor and plug it into its place on the harness. Clear codes. This should hold you over until you get the correct ECU.

Xeryon
Until the car goes into limp mode and then you are driving yourself home on the highway at 20mph. The light is there for a reason.
