demon_belial Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 my 91 accord temps to be at very low idle when i turn it on in the morning at about 400 rpm and then very slowly it goes up to 2000 rpm until car is warm then it goes back down to about 700. some times when is cold its so low that it wants to turn of. what can be the problem can anybody help thanks.
Raley Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 first off, no codes are getting thrown? IACV would be my first guess, then FITV... both are located near your throttle body, probably just need cleaning...
demon_belial Posted November 8, 2010 Author Posted November 8, 2010 i have cleaned both of these parts and after is when it start it to do this. before i cleaned these parts when ever i turn the car on it would idle high but will stay stuck at high rpms. now that I cleaned them it dose not stay high any more but i do get this very low idle when is cold.almos wanting to stall.after wards its fine im not sure if cleaning them afected the parts or is something not ajusted right.
Raley Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 did you tighten down that lil plastic bushing/nut thing in the IACV? mess with it at all? you might have tightened it to far and it cant adjust to get the car to warm up in cold weather...
demon_belial Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 i think i l tighten it all the way and then did a one full turn back maybe it needs to be more open than that i'll try thanks.
