ok so heres the deal

my lil bro bought a car off a guy

its a 1996 civic ex but he has a d15b motor swapped in

the motor head has two v tec solenoids and the v tec cracks around 6500 rpms and it barely pulls

so im trying to figure out why there are two solenoids and why the v te doesnt crack correctly also what year the motor is and what car it came out of. the guy said it came off another civic 96 ex but i think he is full of crap.

so if anybody knows anything please post here or email me please

thanks

3 stage D15B Vtec, its got 2 vtec solenoids, but there are 3 stages:

Vtec-e

Normal 16 valve mode

regular SOHC Vtec

To further clarify things these engines used a P2J ECU, the OBD1 plain old SOHC vtec D15Bs used a P08

oh yeah and they come off 1991-1995 Honda CRX Del Sol

ok cause im running a 96-2000 civic ex ecu on the car right now

and around 5500-6000 rpms where the v tec kicks the car kinda bogs down and slows.

is that because of the ecu? \

would i just have to change the ecu to fix that and make the v tec work correctly?

and would it be a 1.5 L or a 1.6 L motor????
