Has any took out the EGR valve before?

My check engine light went on, and Autozone said it was the EGR valve having problem.

I'm wondering if anyone has taken their EGR valve out before? If so, what kind of tools did you use? I spent two days and a LOT of tools trying to unscrew that thing, but didn't succeed.

Thanks!

BTW, it's a 2001 2.3L Accord EX Coupe.

I used a swivel 12mm socket and a chisel. The chisel was because I rounded one of those EGR nuts. I cut through one side of the nut without damaging the threads on the stud too bad. Then I used my Master Re-Thread Kit to fix the damage I caused to the stud. All went back together without problems; aside from putting a new nut on the EGR, which I happened to have one of the right size sitting in my tool box: they're those generic Honda flanged 12mm nuts you see here and there around the engine bay.
