Orca89
Frigging inspection regs... Brake lever is bent downward a bit (End of lever is about 1 1/2" below where it should be), and because of that the bike won't pass. Even though it's actually easier to use like that.... Frigging nazis.
Sapphyre
I don't mean to be to forward, since I am new here. I have read a couple of your posts and I hope I can help. What kind of job skills do you have? I have a lot of connections in the mid/south atlantic area, maybe I could help? Horses. lol. Seriously- all except 4 of my jobs have been working with horses. It's my passion and its the one thing I feel like I know I'm supposed to be doing with my life. Other than that... I don't really have any marketable skills. I make a great housewife? The other 3 jobs were receptionist (hair salon & hotel), bartender (in england which is MUCH different to bartending in the states) and the current one- a hostess in a chain restaurant. Upside- I talked to the barn that were interested in my resume today and they want me to go in sometime next week for an interview and to teach a mock lesson. I'd be making well over double the amount that I'm currently earning per lesson and I'd be making some serious money if I work for them full time. Then I also have the option of riding/leading trails and running their summer camp program which is hourly based and still more per hour than I'm currently earning. It's more hours and it's back breaking work but that doesn't bother me so long as I'm doing what I love. I'm definitely going to pursue it- I'd have to be a lunatic not to. It's the offer I've been trying to find for 3 years after turning down my dream job.
Xeryon
Odd. As long as you have been on here I never new you to be an equestrian. I grew up in, and currently live, deep in farm country. You really do not come off as the type. Learn something new every day apparently.
Sapphyre
lol. you mean I'm not snobby and princessy like the other girls who've been riding their whole lives? yeah- I never got along too well with those types. I was never too interested in being the main star and winning the awards at the shows. I prefer being the groom/stable hand- I actually HATE riding in shows. But I'm trained in hunter/jumper, western pleasure, dressage, show jumping, cross-country and I've dabbled in some saddleseat but I've never been properly taught it. I've also been fox hunting (the traditional redcoats and dogs), I've worked with race horses and I've broken horses. About the only things I haven't done is ride rodeo or barrel racing. If you can think of it, I've probably tried it. Horses are kind of in my blood- my Uncle rode for the Household Calvary with the Blues & Royals (the ones you see in the british parades with the blue & red helmets) for a number of years and it's been my obsession since I was about a year old. There happened to be show jumping on tv one day and every time they tried to change the channel, I let them know in no uncertain terms (as much as an infant can) that I wanted to watch the horses. By the time I was 18 mos old, my mum had taken me to see one of her friends ride at various events and I was head over heels for horses. I didn't start taking lessons until I was 10 and I had to beg my dad to let me but once I started, I didn't stop. Every spare moment was spent at the barn. By the time I was 14, everyone thought I would make it to some of the big name shows (Burghley, Hickstead etc.) and some more international events but I ended up dislocating my knee while catching a horse and it took 3 years of physiotherapy to get it back to normal again. I didn't ride again until I was 19 because I'd lost all of my confidence and when I was in England, I'd actually gone over there with the intent to get my NVQ in Equine Management and my British Horse Society qualifications for teaching but I ended up quitting the course after 2 months because it was peer grading and according to the other girls in the class, I did everything wrong just because I did it differently. *shrug* When I came back from England I was offered a job working for an A-Circuit show rider which meant that I'd spend half the year traveling around the country with her and her horses going to all the high-end shows and then the other half of the year training the horses in northern FL. All travel and accommodation would be provided and I stupidly turned it down. Since then I've been clawing to find a job in the equine industry- barns are closing at a ridiculous rates and the ones that aren't have cut waaaaay back on staff. I have a lot of business connections in a bunch of different types of industries, but horses is not one. I hope the horse thing works out for you though. Xeryon
http://www.longislan...arty-1856-2010/ It's just an editorial, but I find it interesting that my independent thought process is mirrored by a growing number of journalists who have started putting the thoughts to paper: To skip to the meat if you don't read the whole article: The guy is a republican who loves his party but hates what they have become in recent times. But the current "platform"—if you can call it that—lists only six ideals. The power of the individual, voluntary giving, limited government, low taxes, less regulation and national strength. That's what it says, but what it practices is hate, because hate sells when the chips are down. Well, here's the newsflash: The strong Republican individual who enjoyed low taxes, limited government and less regulation didn't voluntarily give a hand to the 32 million people under eight years of Bush Jr., four under Bush Sr. and eight under Reagan. And the eight under Clinton? We Republicans killed health care then too. So, no. The "voluntary giving" portion of the agenda hasn't worked. This bill is what we get for not doing something sooner. Now the Republican Party is calling for true health care reform and vowing to still kill this bill? NOW? Too bad, so sad. Too little, too late. Everything that is wrong with this bill is the fault of every loser in office with an R next to his or her name. I hate all politicians in general, but that is a story for another day. Or, find the guy that spat on you, and knock him the f**k out! I'm sure that'll make ya feel a lil better i was gonna whoop his ass on the spot but our store manager stepped between me and him. the guy that spit in my face was a customer there. he got pissy because we didnt have 70' wide prehung rafters in stock. then he gets mad at me becuase we didnt have a white rocking chair in stock so he spit in my face. he was escorted out and i went on my lunch break. he paid for my subway and told me if i needed a few days off or a week that i could have it. im also getting a $125 bonus check because i didnt rip the guys head off. the store manager said that they would be dropping the two write ups off of my record so i guess i made out pretty good on this one. i get a bonus check i get a weeks vacation(even though part time doesnt get vacation) got a free lunch no longer have any write ups
