AllBoost
ok so last year my buddy totaled his 94 honda hatch. its a work in progress and we dont really know what we will end up with so suggestions are welcome. we are thinking about a new engine but still playing around with some ideas. basically the car was rammed into the back of a minivan stopped in the middle of 41? lol besides the point. heres what we are starting with. mpearce1974
I would look into local srap yard and see if tou can find a rear ended car. Cut out from bottom of strut tower to front of inner fender, maybe if you were lucky enough the core support would be sound on donor?
Xeryon
I was just going to comment maybe you should just buy an entire front clip from an importer and cut the whole front off your car and weld them together. As you strip it down it always looks better as you cut away the bad. The project looks less of a mountain and more doable. That first pic I was thinking "whoa!" but now that the junk is cleared it really isn't that bad. Looks like a square hit. Off center hits tend to make the top of the door frames buckle and ruin the entire chassis.
cmgogo
yeah my sol looked bout the same, TBH dont bother with the torch/cutting/welding them back into place. Go get a dolly and hammer and just start tapping and forming it all back into place, its going to take a while, but eventually youll get it all formed back. Took me about a half day to get my front inners straightend out and back into alignment and when you goto weld in the new core support your going to have to fine tune it anyways, so it wont look perfect, but it will be damn close. (when i paint my car im doing a wire tuck anyways so ill be smoothing out everything in the engine bay and be using rhino liner so tiny wrinkles wont be visable)

AllBoost
wow this is so cool... I'm looking forward to seeing the pics lol being new to this forum and owning a srt4 now i thought you guys were gunna hammer me with negative crap. i appreciate it guys. well we are starting to think about doing a 96-98 i believe it is front end. we were looking at them and almost like them more. we will see. i did just order a 94 front core support so there may be some modding to it. lol good news is i will take some more pics tomorrow when we pull the core support off. gunna paint the engine bay black i think and maybe the car will be painted black when we are finshed. i know that 2000 dollars is not a real big budget but i can do most of the prep work and stuff and it shouldnt cost to much to just get it sprayed. also when we are at the junkyard we are going to look for a b16 doner and maybe give this thing a few extra ponies. have a 420+ horsepower daily driven srt i feel like everything needs to go faster. lol btw i was a owner of a 1999 honda civic si. it looked reallllllll good. i will post up pics of it later. cmgogo
if your going to do the 99 front end your going to need the core support for it. TBH your going to be better off going with the front end that was on it, doing a front end conversion isnt easy, for info on how to do it look at my build thread (its a bit of work ill tell ya)

AllBoost
you didnt get the SiR front clip that comes with the b16? FAIL eff getting slips, go big and get some white rega master evos. there were a bunch on nwp last time i looked and decently priced at that its been a long time since i posted and im sorry about that guys but the car is SOOOOOOOOOOO close to running. the front clip is completely on as well as the hood and front fenders. i have got new headlights and side markers on. waiting for the hid kit. got an aluminum radiator and a slime fan. i also have injen intake on the car as well as new valve cover and distributer. i went to go and start the car but it wont even try and turn over the starter is not turning and i made sure the battery is charged. the battery i think is bad but still the car should try and turn at least. i even put a pair of jumper cable on the car and it didnt work. so im wondering if the airbag going off has tripped a relay and now the car wont start? something i am missing maybe. SpeedDemon
check your fuses. if thats not it try getting another starter. a dead battery can be the cause, especially if it is super dead. then not even a jumper cable prayer could save it
AllBoost
check your fuses. if thats not it try getting another starter. a dead battery can be the cause, especially if it is super dead. then not even a jumper cable prayer could save it starter relay or maybe the ground was found to be unplugged. well guys the car started up but it i had to hold the throttle half open for the car t stay running and it sounded like it was knocking a little when it did. i did change the distributer and i made sure the point was in the same orientation as the old one as when i out in the new one but to me it sounds like the timing is pretty off. the only thing is i guess i could have twisted the distributor and that made me lost some timing. how much timing adjustment can you get out of these cars with just the distributor. i havent had a honda in a while so be gentle with me. SpeedDemon
hmm u sure it was knocking and not just severe valve lash?
AllBoost
hmm u sure it was knocking and not just severe valve lash? it could have been some bad valve lash but i go to rev the motor a little and it backfires real nasty. i cant figure it out. also today is sheered off the distributor gear while i was playing with the timing so gunna have to order another one of those. also i thought maybe it could have been some bad gas really making everything screwed up but nay. i dumped about 3 gallons in a empty tank and it still ran the same. car will not idle what so ever. Xeryon
Backfiring is bad timing. The fact the distributor is now damaged would be proof to the bad timing as well.
AllBoost
Backfiring is bad timing. The fact the distributor is now damaged would be proof to the bad timing as well. well i had a warranty on the dizzy so i got a new one for free. but honestly i cant figure anything else out. if it dosent start and run fine i cant think of anything else. i do remember when i changed the spark plugs that there was oil all of 2 spark plugs. starting to wonder about that now and if i have some lifters or valves stuck open. also put some new gas it in to make sure that was not the problem. but the car wont idle or anything. but holding the throttle open at about 2500 rpms or so the car runs well. but it has NO throttle response and when you rev it up it has huge backfires. im starting to wonder if i put in the dizzy gear 180 degrees the wrong way. it has taylor racing spark plug wires but i really dont like how the slip onto the plugs. i cant feel like they were snap on. another other ideas i can try guys. im starting to run out. lol
