check that fluid first

that use to be an issue in a taurus i use to have, fluid leaked and it shifted hard

now also, the tranny in the taurus went out about 2 weeks after i sold it so

you may be lookin at new fluid for a quick fix, but in the long run i would look at getting a new one

WOOOO WHAT dont no how to change fluid in trans? thats cake to do man heres how. 1st you have to walk your happy a$$ to the local parts store and buy a new pan gasket a new oeml filter, and the correct trans fluid and you not just picking any old fluid off the shelf.

k some steps for you prty easy 2 follow

1: get a oilpan or bucket to put underneath the car

2: jack the front end of the car up (either leave the jack under the car or put 2 stands under and pull the jack out)

3: get a socket wrench and unbolt the pan at a corner towards the back of the pan completely

4: slightly loosen up the other bolts and let the oil drain out

5: after the oil is drained out and is taken off inspect the pan for any metal shavings and then take the old filter out

6: clean the old gasket off of the pan completely to ensure a nice solid seal for the new gasket

7: bolt the new filter on and this is just a suggestion here but some ppl do this and some ppl dont but just take some blue RTV and run a small bead of it around the edges of the pan and then put the gasket on and right b4 you put the pan back on put some on the gasket its self and the bolt the pan back up (the RTV will ensure a nice solid seal and no leaking out of the pan).

8: fill your trany up threw the dipstick using funnel with a paper towel in it just to make sure you get no dust or any other oils and w/e inside the trans, itll take 4 ever but it works.

and previously stated above make sure your trany is in neutral and the car is running after you put a qrt or 2 in so you dont burn your trans up.
