CivicNKane
So I saw on a lot a 1997 civic 5 spd with a d16 2dr. I guess its an hx or whatevers base. Has 171000 and has some kinda ugly stripes but I need a decent vehicle. Anyway, I was wondering where I can find the vin on the engine? Its also on sale for substantially less that pp kbb at a small dealer on the strip. Any known problems to look for?

vtecxas
If you get a chance check the spark plugs they can tell you alot. Motor code is on the front of the engine left side under the valve cover. Look for d16y8 thats the one you want!
BrIaN EG2
^ he was asking about the vin code on the block, not the engine code  it should be on the left side of the engine code on the block post pictures of said car
