I want to put a cold air intake in my 04 accord but i heard it bog out my engine because i dont have a full exhaust system. Is this true?

yea, this isnt true at all.

bit of advise, for you.

make damn sure you get a full ram CAI, because if not, you are paying money to downgrade your intake system and performance.

and, it wouldnt be a bad idea to compliment your intake with exhaust. they are very complimentary, and together increase power noticeably.

good luck

i no you mean well and all man and your post are decently correct, JUST STOP DRAGGING DEAD POSTS BACK UP PLZ. this post has been dead for like 3wks.

so are you suggesting that a CAI is a downgrade from stock?

i do believe what hes trying to get at is if they dont buy the cal there just downgrading there stock bkuz theyll loose power(performance) but they will gain some mpg with the short ram.... if im mistakin as to what hes trying to say here my bad

wrong

SRI is better for low to mid range RPM gain

CAI is better for mid to high range RPM gain

not always, in the unique case of my accord I lost some low end with the ram but gained mid-upper... very very odd but thats just how it is

i tell you what when i took my stock intake off and put my sai on my car runs so much better and sounds mad sick, and my low rpm went up quite a bit and my mids went up a smidge but i can tell its there.

and plus I "meaning just me my self and I" think it looks sick when you pop the hood and blam fatty intake sitting in your face, looks so clean and fresh...

Its your thread!

I say go short ram, and dont blow big bucks on it. Get a Egay SRI and throw the filter away, or pawn off on some one. Then but a K&N filter! Spend all of $60ish! :)

is that what you have in that picture?

whats so much better about injen and whatnot than the others

I have no piping, filter is mounted directly to TB. AEM, and others are just over priced piping, with a good but way to expensive filter! So I has the NRI (no Ram Intake)

i guess i just wont understand lol

im worried im going to downgrade

Whats the main thing you are after? I am going for clean! I want full wire tuck, already relocated radiator over flow, will be doing battery relocation, ect! Having filter mounted directly gives me a bit snappier throttle response, cleaner look, and once you are moving hot air effect is negated quite a bit! Not to mention I will never have to worry about Hydro-locking my motor!

im looking for good look, slight performance if possible, and gas mileage

egay doesnt have crap for 2.4L only 3

With CAI I lost 1-2MPG.

With SRI I still lost a bit of mileage, due to increased airflow. You increase the amount of air going in, you can increase amount of fuel as well. So computer compensates for that. Thats why you will see some gas misers doing a restrictive intake, smaller exhausts, and even warm air intakes.

ouch

any hp increase?

HP increase is going to be minimal! Thats why you do I\H\E. Those all put together will net you maybe 10-12HP? Roughly! How ever mostly what you are doing is moving where you make your power! You are changing your power band.

the weapon r's are decent enough they do the job but the filters are kinda trash, best filter to use would be the K&N filter, they catch the most junk, plus you can always clean them so you dont have to replace the it when ever it gets dirty until like 10yrs or something like that...

and intakes are intakes all depends on what kind of bends your engine bay will need, and the correct size coupling to fit your TB, think of it this way the less bends the better.

alright, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-Accor...sQ5fAccessories

weapon r is a reputable brand correct? and I wouldnt have to replace filter, and it looks gangsta as hell right?

oh and can i put the v6 version on a 4 cylinder?

That is way too much to pay!! >_< Like I said look for a CHEAP Ebay intake and swap out filter! I was into mine a total of $60.00 with shipping!

I beg to differ about which filter to use...

I MUCH prefer AEM filters as they are "dry" and do not have to be oiled like the K + N ... The AEM is about $40 for the filter in any parts store... If you can modify it, you can just put the cone filter in place of the airbox/resonator and use the stock plastic piping..... You will get the sound, keep down heat conducting in the piping and just be overall happy!

THat said, my AEM SRI was $105 and fit perfectly, designed for my engine..
