SIR_VTEC
Yeah there were no investors that wanted to buy their stuff to liquidate so just because they are getting rid of their stuff becareful, i just bought a laptop from there, and i was talking to the guy and when they are liquidating their stuff they are going to mark up the products and then put them on sale so beware

CRG7
http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/16/news/companies/circuit_city/ For anyone with gift cards, it appears that they will be accepting them throughout the liquidation. It's now reported to begin tomorrow, and continue through the end of March, with the web site/call center shutting down as of January 18th. This only affects US stores, not Canada. Kastigir
Conversely, this could be good for me. I've been looking for a 32" HDTV.
CleanGSR
Hmmmm, I see more camera stuff in my bag from this.... Same here. Maybe I can pick up a D90 for a good bit under retail....maybe an MB-D80 too. Just ordered my Tamron 17-50 f2.8.....probably should have waited until tomorrow to see if CC had it for cheaper. CRG7
Conversely, this could be good for me. I've been looking for a 32" HDTV. tv's have been cheap for the past 6-8 months. i'm so tempted to pick up another panasonic 42" or 50" plasma for a gaming tv, but getting a new laptop trumps getting a tv solely for gaming

If prices get low enough, I can pick up a 32" before I could've otherwise.
Sapphyre
All I can do is laugh... both my dad & Chris work at Best Buy and most of my old friends used to work at Best Buy before they all became losers and got poached by Circuit City. I told them they were safer to stay with Best Buy but of course no one listens to me! Now they'll all be out of a job. oh well. At least this means that maybe Chris might get more of a raise since everyone will be coming to Best Buy and he'll sell more... (CC is across the street & the HH Gregg in the area is currently going out of business)

At least this means that maybe Chris might get more of a raise since everyone will be coming to Best Buy and he'll sell more... (CC is across the street & the HH Gregg in the area is currently going out of business) Circuit City was Best Buy's main competitor. However, with everyone flocking to Walmart (I despise that company.) due to the economy (although WM's prices aren't even as low as people like to believe), it'll be interesting to see how Best Buy does... they did just issue me a credit card today though, lol. I'm not sure how good of a deal you'd find, Kastigir. The prices most likely won't drop to "steals" until halfway through March, or the final week. Linens N Things did this in their recent liquidation. I'd stop in from time to time and never find anything that I considered to be quite cheap enough. Finally, on the final day, my mom and I stopped in and there were extreme slim pickings left. The last half hour, they announced that everything left was $1 except the rugs. The only real steal we got was picking up a $700+ rug for my brother's house for $60. If you're that serious about getting another TV, check the deal sites a few times a week (or a few times a day if you're really ready to buy). What sucks is that I won't be able to price match Circuit City's black friday sales this year I pretty much stopped shopping at the store a while ago, seeing how whenever I went in to buy an advertised item, they never had it in stock... be it a large item, or a video game (even on Sunday morning when the sale would start). The wal-mart here is less than desirable and doesn't carry any quality electronics. It's very basic- the closest super walmarts are at least a half hour away. The Best Buy that Chris works at has a delivery/sales area up to 2 hours outside of town because a lot of the smaller towns around here don't have shopping centers, or even decent targets & walmarts. Best Buy expected to make 20% growth this past fiscal year, & only managed around 16% which is still better than many stores. Best Buy also has Magnolia, & Best Buy Mobile which are two huge money makers for them.

Yeah, I have 2 within 15 minutes. 2 more if I make it a 30-35 minute drive. A 30 minute drive is "close" for me as well, seeing as where I grew up it would be a 40-45 minute drive to the local mall (yet when I was young, we would take trips 2-3 hours away to go to malls that were better than the sh*tty one here lol). ..SSR..
I remember when Best Buy opened here it was during the H-T boycott of it. I then quit the boycott because it had nothing to do with me, Best Buy is easier to get into (right across the side street from CC but you don't have to cross traffic lol), and I like the layout and color scheme of Best Buy better. I'm just upset that none of the local Starbucks are one of the 600 that are closing. Jackass "barista" looked at me like an idiot when I told him I wanted a small french vanilla then tried to make me say the terms they use for all that crap, then got huffy when I didn't put my change in the tip jar. lmao. I believe some study showed a while back that men preferred Best Buy for the blue color scheme, while women preferred the red color of Circuit City. I boycotted Starbucks long ago. They're coffee is ridiculously priced, and it's burnt so it's downright disgusting.
SIR_VTEC
The only good thing about CC going out of business is me buying another TV, and lots and lots of blurays , I never liked Circuit City, but theres bound to be another competitor to come out in a few years for Bestbuy, but i will always shop Bestbuy before anyone else, better prices, they price match still, and usually have everything to my liking in stock
