lil.nate Posted January 15, 2009 Share Posted January 15, 2009 so i live in indiana...and lately we have been getting a lot of snow and its pretty cold right now. around 0. i got a new battery before winter so i dont suspect any real problem with that. the problem comes when trying to start my car. sometimes when i put the key in and go to turn it, no lights come on like my battery is dead. then i normally would take the key out and try again and this time it would start perfectly. i have checked my cables and nothing is lose on the battery. but now!!!!!! i go to turn the key today and i get a noise thats a clicking sound thats super fast and my dash lights just flicker. Is this an alternator or starter problem? because of the cold? or maybe just old. after jumping my car and driving it around for about 10 minutes, i returned home and parked it, then waiting for a minute or so. tried to start it again and got the same noise. btw it is an 02 civic ex so...shortened down. what could this fast clicking sound be? and might it just go away when it gets a little warmer? thanks honda nation friends Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

lil.nate Posted January 18, 2009 Author Share Posted January 18, 2009 sry for the slow reply..i have been working. well tomorrow before i go to work, ill try to record the noise. it seems like its coming from dash area...so hood? my lights blink really fast and seems to sorta lose power the second time i would try to start it? any idea if this maybe will go away with a warm-up? or am i looking at spending money here? lil.nate Posted January 20, 2009 Author Share Posted January 20, 2009 ok..update yesterday while at work i was talking to some ppl and they think it might have just a weak charge on my battery or that my alternator was going out...but they said i should try letting it sit for about an hour or driving it for that long. so i jumped it, and then let it run for about 50 minutes and then drove it around for 10 minutes..came home and turned it off. then it actually started on its own..the real test is going to be today when i need to go to school. but i think i should be good... at least i saved some money by not taking it to a shop and just waiting it out right?
