slosol
anyone on here done a auto to manual conversion on a p28 before? I did alot of research and was able to find three guys that all did the same procedure on theres and it worked. I know hondata does it, but the way these guys talked, it wasnt that difficult at all. Just a little soldering. any input would be appriciated
lastresort576
its not difficult at all. if i rember correctly there is only one spot that you have to solder in a resistor and thats it. check out phearable.net
slosol
what i did was, desolder the resistor at rp17 and remove it, and desolder the resistor at rp18 and replace it with a jumper wire with no resistance. Followed the directions on the Hondata download, so im hoping it works
slosol
ok so i did it and installed it this evening. works perfect. just got the vtec codes bc i dont have vtec wired yet. I think the key is to use as minimal heat as possible when heating the solder joints, as to not disturb the board or the circuitry. i also heard that the static charge build up in your body can sometimes be enough to fry some of the components on a circuit board. so for anyone planning to do this, my advice is to wear rubber gloves and ground the board to a piece of metal, just to be safe.
