sup Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 My Niger Trigger... I thought this said something else at first >_<
alex37211 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Nice ball. And good to see you use frozen rats and not live ones....unless you just drowned that varmint.
DelSolSweetie Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 we use live to feed our ball pythons they wont touch frozen
alex37211 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I used to breed rats in a shack out back to feed my burm, but I would club them in the head first to keep them from biting "Bruce". I mean HARD too. They would go into some sort of spasms and flip all around then Bruce would snatch em' and finish the job. (not that they would have survived the head trauma)
DelSolSweetie Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 a king snake i had once would only eat mice if they were moving so we put them in a bag and slug in up againest the wall to stun them so they would be moving/twitchy but wouldnt bite the snake i havent had any gerbil/rat bites with my ball pythons yet.. tryin to sell them actually
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 Thanks guys for the nice comments She only eats frozen foods...Live foods carry too many nasties and teeth! She just got over mouth rot a few months back from moving stress...I had to give her shots for 5 weeks..That pissed her off slightly...lol she's a great snake love her to death...That rat was wet from her saliva and being thawed out...She likes her food wet from some reason and enjoys dragging them in her water dish if they are dry..she's weird

We get fresh ones that have just been killed so she gets the full vitamins from the mouse/rat..
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 I thought this said something else at first >_< LMAO!...No it's not pronounced anything like it looks He's a awesome fish...Quite aggressive..Gets along with the Damsel and never touches our Coral...He feeds mainly on fresh krill/beefheart/bloodworms...Kinda has a cool personality and tries to get attention when you walk next to the tank..
TLontheDL Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 i use to have an oscar. that guy was mean as hell
CRG7 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 ^Why? the picture of the snake feeding and accounts of how people have killed/injured rats/mice in order to feed their snakes, that's why
DelSolSweetie Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 wouldnt it be cruel to let the snake starve
CRG7 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 wouldnt it be cruel to let the snake starve they'd have a slim chance of starving if they were in the wild where they belong, not in some small cage/tank. yeah, it's real cool that mice/rats are bred solely to be fed to snakes. they either get to be frozen or get to be placed with the snake inside the cage/tank where it has absolutely no chance of survival. awesome... just like snakes.

alex37211 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 animal cruelty warnings should be included I believe bashing the rodents on the noggin was actually mercy over letting them be asphyxiated while conscious. But I see your point about the whole idea of keeping captive snakes and breeding feeder animals for them. I guess it is wrong. But check this out, if you eat chicken, watch this: (I dare ya) I'm sorry. I wish I'd never seen this vid myself...but I can't help but to make other ppl watch it.
CRG7 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 But check this out, if you eat chicken, watch this I don't eat chicken (or any other type of poultry, fish, or meat). I won't be watching either.
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 All our snake food comes frozen...If she eats a rodent that was freshly killed I make my hubby go and get it..I have rodents as pets..We have a mouse named Radar..he's the coolest freaking rodent ever..and my daughter owns a Gerbil "Angel" who I saved from being stuck in a frezzer...The other gerbils in her tank beat that crap out of her and the lady thought she had no chance..I knew she would live so I brought her home for free...I love all animals which is why I'm going into Vet work...The problem with frozen rodents is after a few weeks in the freezer their nutrients start to deminish...And feeding live rodents is dangerous to the snake..parasites, their teeth etc...So that's why we do frozen with added vits...That Rat she was eating was a frozen rat..that's why it looked wet..plus she enjoys her food wet...it helps to add her Repto-Cal on it as well when it's wet..
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 i use to have an oscar. that guy was mean as hell My O's are pretty calm...Vase the bigger guy was rescued..Hence giving him his name..I found him upside down in a vase at a lfs...I brought him home did a scrape treated him and he's a wonderful River dog
DelSolSweetie Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 i had a rat that looked like templeton from who can guess what movie! oh and you can quote multiple people at once so you dont have to make more then on reply
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 animal cruelty warnings should be included No animal cruelty here...That was a frozen rat..My husband doesnt feed live rodents to her anymore...We have only gotten a few freshly killed rats in the past because of nutrient issues..she gets frozen with added vits to ensure a healthy diet..I told him if we were getting a snake he would have to feed frozen..Just because I own a snake doesnt make me less hearted..I take and save mice from the lfs and feed them before their eyes open..I have a 7 month old mouse now Radar..he's a great pet and had a pet rat named Snoop..She was very sweet and loving...broke my heart when she died..she had genetic issues that caused a early dimise..all my animals see the Vet ..being acused of animal cruelty is very strong and serious..I work for the ASPCA PT I think I know what's abuse or not :nono: Showing a pic of my snake eating a frozen rat isn't abuse...You a Mod, if you feel that this thread isnt proper please close it by all means...Thanks This is Snoop R.I.P she was the most spoiled rodent.. And radar..my mouse now..I got him when he was 1 week old I love all my animals...Never would I abuse them in ne-way...
JewelsAccord Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 i had a rat that looked like templeton from who can guess what movie! oh and you can quote multiple people at once so you dont have to make more then on reply I'm trying to figure out how to do that!..LOL I Mod over at Aquapuppies a Goldfish/tropical site and the layout is the same there as well..I dont understand why I cant do it here I'll get it right..hehe Rats make awesome pets...my daughters Gerbil is weird..She only likes her and will bite the crap out of anyone else who comes near her...Santa brought her a new cage with tubes and whatnot but she's never uses them..very lazy Gerbil
alex37211 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Don't they nurse for 14-16 days or something? Did you actually bottle feed a pinky mouse? lol oh that reminds me, this one time, Lucy (my dog) dug up a rabbit hole and pulled out a tiny, baby rabbit. So I threw it in with my rats and one of the mama rats (who had a litter at the time) grabbed it and stuck it in with her pups and began nursing it. It was weird. The baby bunny drank rat's milk for 3 days before it expired. I miss my rats. I had one big male that looked like a sewer rat. I named him Jake Steed, after a porn star. He had 4 bitches in his harem. 3 hooded (hood rats) and an albino. The albino was a little c*nt. She would try to bite me every chance she got! All the rest of em' were nice to me. I used to feed them big grasshoppers in the summer, and earth worms. They would flip out if I had bugs. Those were like they're favorite.
