engine fluctuates at idle?

Recommended Posts

I posted before about an oil leak in the #3 cylinder. I ended up just doing a swap, I put in a newer D15. It runs strong, the only problem I have is it revs up at idle. It jumps from about 1000 rpms to 1800 rpms and drops back down, and it does it constantly and only at idle. I am guessing it is either an O2 sensor or a vacuum leak. I know it is a problem with the older motors. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me the best place to start. i already spraid the motor down with water in a spray bottle to try and find a vacuum leak, but it didnt affect the motor at all. thanks

i fixed the reving part, the big hose that comes out of the IACV was sucking alot of air, the guy i got the car from had that hose completley blocked for some reason, but when it is blocked the idle doesnt fluctuate. I checked and it is putting out a couple codes, 2 for a map sensor and 2 for a IACV, is there any way I can check those? I just dont feel like spending $500 on parts if I dont have to.

If it's no longer surging, reset the codes and drive. If the CEL comes back on, pull the codes.
