cmgogo
that trans wont bolt up to your stock motor, you need the trans that comes with the motor.
V-tak
your worried if what tranny will be able to handle what?? well it's a nearly new engine fitted to a 16 year old tranny, i'm just worried that with the extra power that the k20 would bring that the tranny might be more likely to fail, that combined with the fact that i'm pretty new to the whole swapping thing, i'm just wondering if i need to replace the trans. and if i do need to then what should i replace it with? alex37211
First time swap......you don't know that K won't interchange with D.....I'm not trying to be a dik, but you sound like you're getting ahead of yourself here. Search and read and read and search. Get all over google. Read for at least 3-6 months before you decide which swap to go with. If you want to jump into one sooner, get a B-series. And no....your old cx trans won't bolt up to a B-motor either. A "swap" consists of motor, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, and shift linkage (also mounts are muy importante). Easiest swap for you (gain of approx. 32 hp or roughly 30% in your case)....D16Z6. You can actually use your old trans w/ this one, but I wouldn't (the gearing is longer in yours). This is a really cheap option too. You want K? $4-$5k+. Get the d16z6...500-800 bucks. Get a b20....$800-$1200. Give or take. Get a b18c1 swap and completely double you HP...like $1500-$2200 avg. (I bought a wrecked GSR teg for $900 ) . Hope this helps put things into perspective a little for you.
