96 civic HX

162 k miles

Just replaced clutch . tranny, front tires and alignment is done.

Didn't really detail or do wash yet.

Still have a saggy/slashed headliner...

It has Sony deck that I just installed today and didn't have time to take pics of, and tires are at 205/60 all around.

What kind of mpg do you guys get with these? Online it says 39/45, but I have yet to achieve that.

Also it seems to have a 10 gallon gas tank? Because today it was pretty empty, I filled it up with only 9.1 gallons.

Decent lookin Civic. What's up with the taillights though?

Where online did you find 39/45 mpg? I'd expect maybe 35/40.

Welcome to HF.

Check out the HX model > http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Gla...c&trimid=-1

No idea what happened to taillights, what color is blinker supposed to actually be? White or orange?

HX wheels are the tits!

HX's are the bare-bones models of Civics and should get around 40 mpg pretty regularly. I'd do a full tune up and just make sure all your bases are covered (eg. air filter, O2 sensor, tire inflation, etc.) and you should be able to pull those numbers alright.

I thought DX was bare bone. Mine has I think every option a civic ever had, sunroof, everything power... But then again I really don't think I have stock paint either, because depending on sunlight angles, I get gold shades and dark green shades. And its metalic. I noticed now that I filled it up with premium fuel, I can actually see the difference in acceleration, and I drove 65 miles and my tank is still fulll... :). I had everything checked out actually, when I had a 2400$ tranny and clutch job. Also tires are now new and alligned.

i think the HX is supposed to be the eco version not really the bare bones version. it has taller gears and the motor is set up for better mpg. on my car if i've driving on the highway my needle wont move until i'm over 90 miles on a fresh tank.

Ripped off the headliner today, and had a crazy story... I was on my way to the bank, when suddenly my car starts seriously accelerating. I put it in neutral, after which the engine starts bouncing off the rev limiter... I am like WTF? So I turn my car off, and on, same thing happens. I repeat the action again. All of this happening while I am rolling on the street btw. So I roll to the side of the street and start inspecting. I find out the problem in 10 seconds, my floor mat moved, and was now flooring the accelerator...

Hmm, I knew they were the econo-boxes of Hondas... which would allude to being bare-bones. Including a bunch of weight-adding features would seem counterproductive, but whatever. *shrugs*

Is there a website that explains every civic in detail? I really want to know what separated the DX and the HX. My friend has an HX as well, she has cruise control, everything power. So I don't think they are bare bone civics, they had some kind of a different engine through, with technology called lean burn, that supposedly saved lots of fuel.
