'95 accord clutch problem

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 95 Ex coupe with a 4cyl and 5spd .

i am not able to put the car into gear even with the clucth fully pressed. but i can put it into 1st gear and then start it with pressing the clucth. and when i let go the brakes it starts moving and i am not able to shift it out of gear. even when the pedal is fully pressed its like the clutch is 3/4th engaged.

any lights on the issue. what are the possible causes.

I would look under the dash at the clutch master (above the clutch pedal), see if there is fluid running down the inside of the firewall. There should not be. Also check the slave cylinder boot for fluid. Then mark the location of the throw out arm, press the clutch completely and use a board to hold the clutch pedal in (or have someone else hold the pedal). Note how much travel the throw out arm is traveling. It should be notable, if not then it is probably a bad master or slave cylinder. If the hydralics are working properly, then the clutch may be worn out or the throw out bearing is bad... Either way it is time for a clutch job and replace all items (throw out bearing, pressure plate, clutch plate).

Good luck.

check the fluid first. ts probably empty. and filling it will be a temp fix cause theres a reason its leaking out. lik ementioned , check the master. and also check the slave on the tranny for leaks.

I had similar issue with my rolla 4afe. Turned out to be the slave cylinder. Replaced it and all was good.

You should determine which, if both of the cylinders are leaking. They typically run between 100 and 150 a piece for each at the dealer. Labor is what you make of it. That is will you do the work yourself, or bring it to your local dealer. Labor price varies around the country, both for local shops and dealers. List price on parts also varies around the country (a combination of supply and demand, and general overhead).

What do you mean "no????" You can determine which cylinder has gone bad (if it is a cylinder) yourself. If you are not willing to listen to my advice and determine what is wrong, then I will no longer spend my time trying to help you through the general diagnostics.

End of discussion.

i am going to replace the clucth disk also. but when i was checking the parts catalogs of honda i couldn't find the clutch disk. the pressure plate throw out bearing and all was on it. but no clutch disk. is it just that honda doesen't sell the disk through dealer ships or does the disk come only with a complete kit.

that clutch disk is 219mm diameter. but others on kragen, autozone etc are 225mm in diameter. which one is correct. or does it not matter.

Is that one for correct motor? Exedy is probably the closest you can get to factory, so I would think it would be the correct size! If you are buying a complete kit then 225MM would be ok, because it is matched up to pressure plate. What are the prices forthe other kits? Gripforce is where I got my setup for my Sol, and loved it! Good price too! Exedy is a very good quality manufacture!

i ckecked out ebay again. there were different sizes of exedy offered for same car(225mm,220mm,219mm etc) i am confused. but they were all as a complete kit. so is it okay as long as a matching pressure plate comes with it. sorry my knowledge is limited.
