So who's going to get the most votes because of running mate??

So like it says, McCain went out and got himself a female running mate to combat Obama's minority vote getting skin tone. (not racist just a fact)

Just curious to see who thinks what! I personally think McCain because women are more likely to vote!

And highly bored! :p

Personally, I think taking on Palin was one of the best moves McCain's made so far and a great big f*ck you to the democrats. I think the news needs to stop making a big deal about her personal life & exploiting her family. There's a line between public & private and the media don't seem to understand that. What relevance does it have if her 17 year old daughter is pregnant and refusing an abortion because she intends to marry the father once she gives birth? Why are we digging up dirt about Palin's husband having a DUI 22 years ago? If we really want to get into it, Obama's admitted to snorting coke. These are things that shouldn't be involved in political campaigns. Admittedly, I don't think that women should be in politics (even as a conservative, i have to admit that Maggie Thatcher had more than her fair share of f*ckups while she was Prime Minister & what good did Indira Ghandi do for India?) but, it was a good strategical move on the republicans part in order to get the women's votes.

I HATE Obama and I really can't stand Biden. Bleeding heart, liberal idiots who never have anything to back up their claims. The thing that gets to me the most is the fact that hordes of college students are backing him without even understanding his platforms & campaign. I'm tired of my conversations with people that consist of

them: "oh but he stands for hope and change!"

me: "well hope and change of what?"

them: "i dunno. everything."

me: "okay. and what exactly is he going to do?"

them: "stuff. the things bush should've done."

me: "and what's that?"

them: "everything."

It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Sure, its possible to finally get an answer out of them, but you wind up going around in circles for hours before they'll finally admit that they're only going to vote for him because he's charismatic & their friends are voting for him. Everything that I've heard the Obamas say in their speeches are contradictory. He speaks to one group of people and he's a proud black man. He speaks to another group, and he's all about how his mother was white. Michelle stood up and said that this was the first time in her life she's ever been proud of her country at the beginning of the campaign. Now she stands there and says that she can completely relate to the hardships of the working class- she comes from one of the most affluent families in Illinois! She hasn't truly worked a day in her life! I love how he's sitting with his foot in his mouth at the moment- making a statement about how "you white people don't know the hardships of the black man" was probably one of the biggest faux pas he could've made at this point. I don't trust a man with one year of experience in the Senate, no world experience, and no military experience who can't even make up his mind about major issues such as abortion and would rather just vote "present".

But then again, I'm a staunch republican in the States (and yes, as much of a twit as Bush is, I think he's actually very intelligent when he's not being played like a puppet) and an extreme conservative in Britain. (aren't i lucky? I get to vote twice!)

Too bad I am married, and you are soon to be! >_<

Obama brings "Change" in the sense that he's the most liberal voting and least qualified presidential nominee ever.

...but he was a community organizer

I totally agree, Obama is not cut out to be president on the sure fact that he has next to no experience... he might be able to lead a community but not a country, BIG DIFFERENCE

I think the Ayers connection is hilarious, being that he was 8 and all when he committed those crimes.

McCains running mate is extremely important in this case because HE'S FREAKING ANCIENT! Face it, McCain not living through one term, let alone two, is a very real possibility. For all the reps bitching about Obama not having enough experience they go and pick the only person they can find with LESS experience. I think that he really hurt himself with this choice. He found someone with minimal marketable assets (aside from being a female) and also deflated his #1 argument against Obama.

It will be a tough race. Obama obviously doesn't have the experience, but he is young and fresh with some interesting ideas and has that personality that gets people fired up. McCain is old and crotchety, but has experience on his side and his ways are familiar and stable. I'm calling it a fight to the bitter end, and like him or not, with Obama nudging out McCain. I think McCains war stance is going to hurt him more then he realizes and will be his ultimate downfall.

McCain's war stance is basic logic. He doesn't want to pull out right this moment because to do so would slightly violate some martial laws, and by not rebuilding and setting them up with a stable infrastructure leaves the place wide open for them to become another pakistan- a haven for terrorists. We could end up with an even worse situation than Saddam's dictatorship. All he wants to do is finish the job & get out. He's not saying they're going to stay there forever. Whereas Obama is just saying lets get them out asap, which just isn't a good idea.

edit- also, I'd rather put my trust in someone with military experience to guide our military out of there, than someone who can barely play a game of chess and hasn't ever spent a day of his life in bootcamp. (and I say all of this coming from a military family, having ex's who are currently stationed in Afghanistan & Iraq and having a fiance who's planning on going Marines as soon as next summer)

Case in point. The White House is not a place for on-the-job training. Heck he couldn't even make a decision on the 130+ bills put in front of him in as a senator, he just voted "present". I don't want someone in the White House who can't make decisions.

Ya, But Obama has served on a board, and is friends with Ayers. Who BTW is unrepentant about his crimes, and is quoted as saying "I wished we would have done more"

As for the "less experience" bit. How do you figure Palin has less experience? All Obama has done is serve as a so called "community organizer" and simply vote "present" in the Senate. Palin has been a Mayor and a State governor, last time I checked thats alot more executive experience that a "community organizer" and a Senator, Erra, I mean presidential campaigner.

Numbers. Obama has more years of public service. Good or bad they add up to more.

As for a war stance it will not matter the reasons. If the reasons are good or bad doesn't make a difference. Take a look around at the average non-military family. They could give twocraps about Iraq. The bottom line is that the presidential campaign is a popularity contest and the majority of the populous wants the troops out of Iraq sooner rather than later.

I watched Palin's speech last night. TBH I wasn't really impressed. Maybe it's because I can't get past the fact that she looks like Elaine from Seinfield?
