alex37211
I've heard to use only Honda MTF, but is there something better out there? Like a Royal Purple, Lucas, or Amsoil product?

..SSR..
Any non synthetic 10w-30. Honda MTF is crap, unless you have a stockpile of the old formula.

..SSR..
Pretty much made it into water. If it is water when cold, what is it when hot... That and the makeup of it was ruined when they redid it.

..SSR..
cheap non synthetic 10w-30. I use supertech since its cheap, made from mobil1 stock, and has never given a problem with any trans I've built.

frostedflake
hit up some honda mtf or some ams oil. using regular motor oil is $hit. my friend did that and it ate up his synchronizors.
..SSR..
Who are we going to listen to? The guy that builds transmissions for a living or the guy whose friend had synchros eatten up? Running on 10w-30 oil since I got my car. Synchros are still within spec and completely pointed.

cmgogo
theres not a problem with 10/30 but DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC!!! from what ive heard (and im sure SSR will either agree with me, or correct me, in which case i would be happy to know either way) the synthetic is "too slipery" and does not adhere to the gears as well as dino oil. I used to run 10/30 and had no problems, but since i got the sol ive used only honda MTF, and since i have a stock pile of the old stuff ill use it till i run out (prob about 3 years, btw SSR, whats the shelf life on this stuff? 5 years?) frostedflake
either way, its his decision what he puts in his car. I have had the new honda mtf in my car for about 30k miles and it still works just as the day I got the tranny. they say your supposed to flush out the tranny every 25k so I will probably do that soon. I have had a honda repair place tell me just to put some castrol gtx 10-40 in it and I just thought that was weird, so I called up honda and asked them and they said that they cant tell me not to put it in there but if I use their mtf if it screws up my trans than it will fall on them. so I figured hey! if anything screws up they'll be seeing me back for a new trans. And YES they will warranty their work as long as you have the reciept that they give you because it says it on mine.
