TS John
So there's two little things that I want for my car and I'm not actually sure if they really exist. But it would make my life a lot better if the did. First off, I like the look and tone of my Skunk2 muffler, and I really like the stainless piping, but it's a little too loud even with the silencer in it. I feel like total cop bait. I have heard that there are universal little silencers you can insert into mufflers like that to take the edge off an exhaust a bit, and you can stack as many as you want in there. Is that true? Do they work? Where do I find them? Second, I have a sweet little shift knob from the SoCal Speed Shop but it's for a domestic, meaning that it's wider than my import shift lever. Is there something I can just screw onto my shift lever that would have threading for a standard domestic shift knob? I tried gorilla glue but even after letting it set for two days it still doesn't feel as solid as a shifter should feel, plus then I have to break it off and clean it up should I ever want to remove the shift knob, which is a pain (I've already done it once). Thanks for your help, folks!
mpearce1974
Not sure about shift knob, but does the Skunk2 exhaust have a resonator? If it does have you considered a longer one?
Mitchness
You should be able to go to a major hardware store (Home Depot, Lowe's) and they should have or at least be able to tell you where you can get an adapter for metric threads to standard threads. I'm dealing with the same thing because I want to put a B&M shift handle on my stock shifter.
xxscaxx
most of the time, universal shift knobs come with a little plastic piece that you insert in the knob, and then you screw it on, and it holds it tight. dont know where you could find one, but that would solve the problem lol. BrIaN EG2
or you could just be a real cheap ass and stuff some newspaper in it and bondo it but on a serious note i have had that shift knob problem before, i just wrapped the lever with alot of friggin masking tape, lol it actually worked just dont do a sudden upward jolt or you will rip the knob from the tape, hahahahaha! CRG7
I prefer the clear duct tape. Used to have it holding together a crack in the Sol's old bumper cover, and just used some the other night.

TS John
Well, I just re-Gorilla-glued the shift knob and that ain't goin' anywhere. I don't even know if I could break it off very easily, so that will make changing my head-unit fun in the near future. Whoops. With regards to the exhaust, I wasn't aware that resonators made an exhaust quieter, but it actually already has a freakin' huge one (like twice the size of a Tanabe!) so I don't know what else I could do short of replacing the s-pipe with one that has a resonator in that too... Has anyone else heard of these little universal, stackable cone-type silencers?

James Matteu
meaning that it's wider than my import shift lever. Is there something I can just screw onto my shift lever that would have threading for a standard domestic shift knob? Probably not, make your own. Use a peice of pipe, have the outside threaded to match the knob and the inside threaded to match the lever. You may have to rethread the shift lever if the current difference in size is small.
