TomT
Look'n for a used Civic for my 17 year old daughter. Many I come across from the '90-'93 era seem to have between 150-200K miles. Should this scare me away, or can these things run for much longer than that & hold together. Also people are still asking between $2500-3500 which scares me also.. Seems too high w/150K+ miles on them. Please advise...
Guest HondaCRX16
Civics are great cars. Are you sure that the entire engine has 150,000 miles on it? Most of the time, people change out the engine and make their car a hybrid. I bet you the BODY has 150,000 miles on it. You might want to verify that. Also, thats an alright price... but it could be better. I hope you find this helpfull! HondaCRX16

SonicBurner
I got my '91 civic lx sedan for 2000$ with 170,000 miles on it last August, and its still running strong. On cars that have this high of miles, though, just remember to do the basic stuff like changing the oil and filters.
Drew
You may want to have a Honda mechanic take a look at the car overall and tell you if there are any major problems that may popup in the near future. The honda engines should last a very long time if you just keep them maintained regularly. Since you said this was for your daughter, I doubt you will be doing an engine swap or anything. XScarAudio
also, get a service chart for milage and check out everything scheduled upto that point.....i've seen people neglect their scheduled maintenance if they know they're getting rid of a car soon!~ if the car is well maintained though, thats nothing for milage....i traded in an 89 toyota corolla with 200k on it, on the original clutch(no slipping) and the thing still ran awesome, and they sold it for 2k to some kid. I still see her driving around daily!
93blackH22
yeah I too have been lookin around and finally decided to just get a 93 If found with 200K miles on it! It still runs fine and everything and he has changed the O2 sensors, tires, his cv axles, the fluids and such so I figure it would be the perfect car to buy to mod. Im new to swaping out engines but its ok tho because I can have my neighbor (mechanic God) help me swap it out. btw car = $2,000 = H22 w/30k on it
