hecntg
I just bought a 00 integra ls w/ an s14 converstion, the kid says he rebuilt the trans, or replaced. Just wondering what i should look for to get my odometer back to proper op. thanks
CleanGSR
What does replacing the trans have to do with the odometer? The odometer should be the same regardless.
hecntg
What would cause that to mess up, and how can i fix it.

chris_agu28
I always wondered how you adjusted these. Not like I would ever do anything like that unless my odo. broke or stopped roatating and needed to fix it. PICS OR BAN. lol.
TS John
The quick and dirty method to make an odometer accurate again that I remember cranny saying was to take off the glass cover, remove the needle, drive next to someone you know is going a particular speed, and put your needle down exactly on that speed. That would make the speedometer accurate, not the odometer. The odometer is what tracks the mileage and wouldn't be affected by the needle's location. If you are trying to set back the odometer, that's hugely illegal, and while I know how to do it, I'm not telling anybody directions on illegal stuff. CelticRacer
Or you could always just drive in reverse for a long time, a ricer told me that would work. lol.
CleanGSR
That's from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I'm pretty sure if you do that (at least on a honda), the mileage still increases.

chris_agu28
so it the meter is not moving then how many miles are really on the car? Just replace it with a another one and you will be fine.
lceah
if carfax has a record of the miles on it recently and it doesn't say "possible problem" or whatever, then I guess you could use that + some miles...??
chris_agu28
but who knows when the carfaqs would be updated with that kinda info, we would have to look it up and see.

Turtlehead
If the trany was just replaced or rebuilt, make sure the wire connect to the VSS unit is properly connected (it is located in/on the transmission). If not try that first. You can also test the VSS to see if it is working properly. The other somewhat common problem with that generation car is that the spedo head fails. The only fix for that is a new one or a used one of similar mileage.
