Honda_Road_Raptor Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I have been thinking it would be cool to make a Awd crx. Here is the question I have heard talk that there was a 80's civic wagon with awd and maybe you could make the 4 wheel drive system work on a crx body anyone know if it's true?? need 2 know asap
Pyrorocketeer Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 As in a direct bolt in? I hardly think so.
Honda_Road_Raptor Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Third generation (1984-1987) Civic A 3-door hatchback, 4-door sedan, 4-door "Shuttle" wagon, and CRX coupe shared common underpinnings. This included independent front control arms with torsion bar springs and a semi-independent rear beam with coil springs. However, the body panels were completely different for each bodystyle, with nothing interchangeable beyond the front bumper and headlights. Sounds 50/50 to me I have not clue if it can be done. That's why I want to try it. I know it will not be a direct bolt on 5 to 1 alot of cutting to make it work if it can be done
Pyrorocketeer Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 so I'm not seeing what your question is
Honda_Road_Raptor Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Can it be done ?? Can a crx be maked into a awd useing a civic from the 80's ???
Honda_Road_Raptor Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Better question then f20 or h23 motor for a crx?
Pyrorocketeer Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 yeah it could be made to have a subaru engine if you wanted to..... you can make anything work with time, and fab skills, and a little bit of money
chris_agu28 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 This might help, They used civic wagon part with some crv part but it is a awd del sol and i pretty sure this will help. Gives you a general idea what to do and what to expect. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1708933
HONDA CRX 88 SI Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 yeah u have to use parts from the wagon and cr-v. alot of fab well not really but yeah some what.
chris_agu28 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 But it gives a general Idea of what to do and expect.
Kastigir Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 IIRC the Civic wagon that was AWD was an 88-91 model.
