question on vtec solinoid

My vtec is not exactly working. It engages, but is not hitting all the way. I called around and asked what it could be they said the vtec solinoid, or an oil leak making me loose pressure to use the vtec. My friend has a y8 head and I have the z6 head. Are the solinoids the same because i know his works and was going to put it on my car to see? thanks.

K will do Nancy... and I Just had it tuned at a place in Milwuakee and it was on the dyno. The guy that was tuning it said he checked to see if the solinoid had the electric current running to it, which it did. It engages at like 4800 maybe i can not rmeember right off my head its around there. He said it may be an oil leak making less pressure. I will try my friends, now that I have the turbo at 10 pounds will I feel when vtec hits, because I could only hear it before barely when the car was stock since its just a lil guy. I am not really sure how i am going to know its working unless I feel it you know? thanks

Does anyone else find it alarming that he's running 10 psi on a d16?

The VTEC should be a noticable acurance but it's not like downshifting or anything.

Do you have any reinforcement to your bottom end?

maybe i just feel like blowing my motor? no we rebuilt it with eagle rods and srp low comp. pistons and arp head studs to keep that puppy down. I have seen d16 run way more boost then me 10 is safe for me so i do not blow my crap and have no car again.
