I don't need pitch black obviously, red should be seen but not a lot.. and yes, I need the ENTIRE taillight done..

That's actually perfect. Unfortunately fresh tint will be darker than the paint back there..

dont tint it then. just use transparent black paint, and get it as dark as you want it
