NewHondaChick
Hey, I just posted over in New Member Introductions, but I am new here! Hey! I am gonna pick up my new 2002 Si in a little while! I know nothing about cars, so what should I do to it 1st?
0verb00st
drive it ;) seriously, it's up to you. most people go with an air intake first because it's pretty inexpensive.
hondasnow
better take that bitch and trade it in for a Cobra
Trepid
better take that bitch and trade it in for a Cobra Wha???? no way, Si is way better than a huge stanky stang, a cobra may have more horsepower but when you hit 100,000 miles the thing isn't worth all the trouble. A civic is a much more reliable car

Pony Eater
Big Spoilers are cool. Anything that makes your car look fast (I guess sort of "ricy" as domestics say). Also, neon kits or custom stereo systems. Most people go with exhuast first...big tips look cool on the Si...
Stang Stinger
stereo and neons thats the way to go... i dunno about the car falling apart its like any car take car of it and it will run fine... my parents have owned fords sense i was like 8 and 12 years later like no major work has been done to any of them (basic maintence is about it) but i say neons and stereo... or and definately fart cans! Im already getting a new muffler. Can you believe it only costs 20 bucks to get one! I also got a type R badge... Its gonna look sweet!

I would suggest you look around first, but $20 isn't bad for a temporary install... if you want and you are near the Santa Barbara area I know a guy selling a full GReddy cat back system for $380 that would work for you. also, get an AEM cold air intake if you are going to get one, don't listen so much to what the guys at pep boys tell you too, its usually some cowboys that work there and have flowmaster and K&N on the brain
Fr|ed_R|ce
hey honda ckick I got mine from auto zone and it was like only 20 bucks!! it sounds great and i've notices small performance gains!
theotherachiever
mods are ok i think but before you do any racing you should break your engine in first... drive it lightly and keep it under about 5k rpms for a few thousand miles.

Although the muffler might look like a good one, and it might sound semi decent, the fact is is that any muffler for twenty bucks is nothing more than a hunk of metal that seems to have been accidentally molded into the shape of a muffler. If you some real performance mods, why don't you return that muffler and put the twenty bucks back into your pocket and start saving up for an AEM intake or an APEX exhaust. Then your car might be semi worthy of wearing that Type R badge.
civicdudeyo4life
yo i got a greddy exhaust system for my phat civic. it sounds like hot shyt yo. i can't wait til my badass lowering springs are coming in, then ima go buy one hella sweet body kit. that shyt will look hot with my 18" rims. gotta give props to for though. my last car was a 92 Mustang 5.0 bought brand new. i put 160,000 miles on it before i had the first problem with it. something was up with the tranny and it cost me like 400 bucks to fix. since then though i only put 600 into non-wear and tear repairs and sold the stang with 215,000 miles on it. i dunno which i liked better...they were both hot shyt! Drew
Yes, we are not here to bash people or make them look like idiots because they are new to cars or what not... Why we are hear is to educate ourselves about our own cars and cars we wish we had, mainly Honda's and Acura's. Out of my own generosity, time and money, I have setup these forums as a resource for Honda/Acura enthusiasts to educate themselves by asking questions as well as teaching others. I would appreciate it if everyone on this site would take some consideration when posting a response to watch what he or she says. This site is not about what's better, Civic's or Mustangs, but about how to improve upon our own cars to better their performance, looks, sound systems and value. I am not targeting any specific people out on this site and I will be posting further rules for the forums shortly. Pony Eater
AUTOZONE IS DA BOMB BOOOY. they have kick ars deals with da muffs and lights.
Trepid
umm... yeah anyhoo, the thing with autozone and places like that is the people that work there get a discount on what is there so they really don't shop around for the good stuff, also you shouldn't always listen to what a single person says, that's why a forum is a good place to hear other's opinions on products, you get multiple responses and a lot of educated suggestions(or in some cases negative feedback but hey, this is the internet, who cares what someone else says) As far as the $20 muffler is concerned I say kudos... $20 isn't much money, and it gives you a little something to make your car different then all the rest so its not a bad deal... I would get one if I had the time to install it myself and I wasn't saving for an apex or GReddy(haven't decided yet)

I know how you could make it faster. Put on some stickers and a 4 foot wing some altzzas and go to crutchfeld and get you some of those NOS subwoofers. Then add some neons and a phat system and you got a sweet ass ride yo. J/K

The underachiever
hey honda ckick I got mine from auto zone and it was like only 20 bucks!! it sounds great and i've notices small performance gains! Those "power gains" are probably nothing more than little dips in the road or your ego getting over your head because your riding around with a pootie buzzy cheap ass muffler. Also wouldn't you think that if you got power gains from a 20 dollar muffler, everyone would be using them? Retard... is this the kind of responses i am to expect from this forum... cause if it is then I'll just go find another one!!! I apologize for what I had previously said about an auto zone muffler because I don't really know about performance parts from auto zone and I was just basing my comments on the 20 dollar price tag. I guess I am only interested in other performance systems, and I don't have the right to bash your autozone muffler, but if what you say is true about the muffler, than good job of finding a real performance bargain. I will try to be a little more thoughtful about what I say from now on.
