AccordHEART
If you plan to boost a SOHC motor, or any motor for that matter, You should build the head. New springs, retainers, valves, etc. And I'm not talking OEM.
98_coupe_ex
ok so which would be more cost efficent.... bascilly i looking for around 250 hp so what would be the best route to get that much if not more hp?
AccordHEART
If you're not looking for reliable, Just boost the hell out of the stock motor. If you are looking for reliable, drop in an H22 Type-S and get some minor bolt ons.
Ben.
Orrr you keep your air conditioning and go with a b-series swap and spray/boost it.
airjordan223
you can get 250 hp boosting a sohc. it would be better with a b series, but the cost of swapping in a new motor and then turboing that isnt worth it. theres a couple pinned threads at the top of the "engine tuning uprgrads and swaps" forum with good info about turbos and building a motor. CleanGSR
Definately keep the SOHC. Forged pistons, new rods and probably about 14psi on a T3/T04B and you should hit your 250whp goal reliably. This would all come at the cost (or less) as a B series swap and much less than an H22 swap and the turbo SOHC would have a lot more power.
