1987 Honda Prelude 1.8L

Hello all, I need a question answered - please

 

My son has a 1987 Honda Prelude with the 1.8L engine SOHC with the side draft carbs / 12 valve

engine model A18A1. He did not check the oil and the rest is history - locked up !

 

I've found a 1.8L 12 valve sohc engine with the side draft carbs from a 1984 prelude - still running (so they say )

but the engine is a model ES1

 

Anybody know if these are iterchangeable ? By pictures the engines look identical.

 

I removed the oil pan from my son's engine and 2 of the rods are toast and the crankshaft is damaged, I doubt

that his engine is rebuildable.
