IMO it will depend on the profile tire you use. a real low profile tire will make the fender gap stand out. i've got a 2000 as well and put on 16s with a 205 55 tire and it looks okay. because a camber kit is quite expenssive and it's my wife's daily driver i decided not to lower it but i've got a brand new set of Eibachs if you're interested. $100 plus shipping. i'll send pics of them if you'd like.
