87preludekid
Hi my name is Jed(.a.k.a. 87preludekid) I signed up for this forum a couple of days ago and thought I would introduce myself. I own two cars first of all I have a 1987 Honda Prelude SI and a 1986 Volkswagon Jetta 2-door. We got the Jetta about 2 weeks ago and it has a problem with the radiator so its sitting in our drive way, and previous owner of the Prelude needed to take out his after market parts so we are receiving the Prelude tomorrow but any way I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and am 14 years old. I guess thats it, so reply to this post if you have any questions. thanxxxxx, 87preludekid Edited July 17, 2007 by 87preludekid
hondafreak17
hey welcome to HF preludes are a good way to go nice car.. i prefer the 88s tho. but some advice get an alarm and get the locks and igniton changed the day u get it. i had an 88 prelude had it stolen and totalled. went and saw it at a junk yard the next day saw another one in there just like mine went over unlocked the door and would have started it with the key to my prelude but the motor was all messed up. there is only acouple diff keys for the older preludes so unless u want it stolen get it changed ASAP. o and get rid of the jetta. had one of them one the worst car i have ever owned!! had a new prob with it every other day.. but good luck with ur prelude!! hondafreak17
so u asking if a 95 prelude motor will fit?? ya it should but you will need to go get new motor mounts and it prob wont just be an easy drop in. you will have to call a shop thats special is motor swaps and ask. i wouldnt take it to any shop tho. make sure they really know what they are doin.. 87preludekid
yeah.. i was talking to you.i love MKII jettas and i want one. Got pics? no pics currently but will try to get some the lowest i would go on it is $400 there is a problem with the radiator overheating and there is no stereo but other than that its in pretty good condition
hondafreak17
ya he might know about engine swaping but do you know of any shops that do just that?? here we have a shop called garage 808 that pretty much does nothing but motor swaps and turbos and stuff like that. so i would find a shop like that and call and ask. but im pretty sure u can i was goin to get an H22 in my 93 del sol and that has a smaller engine bay and a smaller car all around and they have done acouple of them so most likly it will work but it may not be cheap for me just the swap was goin to be like 1500 to 2000 and i still had to buy the motor mounts and those were goin to be about 650 and i had to get lots more stuff like axles and stuff.. so if ur serious about the swap expect to pay a bit.
