compuvision02
I know this is around the third thread I've made regarding what I am doing, but this one is pretty damn legit. My previous threads were pre-mature, I was not completely satisfied in my head, so I changed my mind. Anyways, this is what is going down. To start, I will talk about the situation revolving around my EH2, since this is a Honda based forum. For the time being, I am pretty much done with modifying the car. The only things I will be doing is installing the parts I have at my house, get a softer riding suspension, and a quieter exhaust system. I like how my car is running after the tune, not as fast as I would like, but is good enough for now. Down the road I would like to turbo the car as planned, just not a beast build, just a Drag kit. This car will be my daily driver for a bit, unless I find a nice beater this winter, again. Either way, it is not going to be an all race build, minor, but fast enough. The other half revolves around a street bike. This weekend I will be talking to my parents about co-signing for a loan. We have been talking about it for the last few weeks, but a lot of unexpected things came up and we got side tracked. Anyways, I pretty much already have a bike lined up, as long as it does not sell. My friend's brother in law is a motorcycle wholesaler, he just so happens to have the bike I want for a good price, a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 Raven, 3000 miles, $5000. I am trying to a $7000 loan, since I need to buy a helmet, other protective gear, and do the tag and title. If I can, I would like to get a $12000 loan, maybe a little less, so I can just get the things done to the EH2 and be done with it and worry free, just paying off the loan, saving money, and using spare money to buy what I need and want. Hopefully things work out, my goals are much more reasonable for the situation, since I want to go back to school full time, plus I think building a race car right now is a bit rediculous. I have some other news, but I will discuss that further down the road.

compuvision02
Pino, I know what you are saying, but to a realistic point why not? Reason number one would be I am not scared about dying on a bike, I am scared crapless of dying, so I won't do anything too stupid, believe me. I don't think I will put myself in that situation. I personally am more scared of other drivers then myself. I don't even beat on my cars very hard, if I even get a little unsure I back off, like when Matt was driving Creek Road at 100mph with wet spots and I backed off and went 40mph. I changed a lot, haha. Second, my car is just as much of a death trap as a bike, the thing is made out of about 50,000 recycled Pepsi cans. As stated above, I am more scared of other drivers, I could die from someone running a red light in my car, so why not enjoy?

civicplaya20
I bike doesn't mean you'll die. I had one for a while and honestly I'm thinkin of selling my honda and getting a bike and riding it all the time. I had a 05 r6 and loved every min of it. I regret selling it now :(
Joe W
A bike equals death when you dont know how to ride, and by this I mean not just being able to go and shift the gears, i mean really knowing how to ride including cornering, braking, reacting to other stupid drivers, when to bail (sounds crazy but sometimes that is the safer route) among many other things. mycarsux
My parents would disown me if I got a bike. My mom's a nurse and my dad's an ER doctor. They have seen soooo many bike deaths and traumas so I don't blame them.
RSX-S-T
I kinda want a bike too, but I am scared cause I like to push the limits on things. A bike is not the thing I want to do that on. So for fun I was thinking of getting a bad a*s sport 4wheeler like a YFZ 450 they go like 110 mph or something. That would be a fun toy. But bikes are way cooler. Yeah, maybe if you are riding it hard as f*ck. I don't plan on whiping it like that. Sure, I could learn to take corners at 100, drag the knee, blah, blah. Is it worth it? No. Noone is "watching" you ride, nobody is going to give you a sponsorship to ride for them, so why bother? I'm trying to get this through my friend's head, he used to be all about just riding and going fast on straights; he changed, I'm scared. I just want it to ride, get good gas mileage, have fun. I don't want to learn to do wheelies or endos, I just want to ride. Reacting to stupid drivers is the biggest thing, but I've learned to do that over the years I've been driving, it's just a matter of translating it into being on a bike. And this is why I'm taking the free classes.

Your parents are a little over cautious, because they are in the hospital game. I bet they see a ton of car crash victims as well. There are dangers to everything. You could die walking across the street. I kinda want a bike too, but I am scared cause I like to push the limits on things. A bike is not the thing I want to do that on. I'm trying to get this through my friend's head, he used to be all about just riding and going fast on straights; he changed, Yeah that is what I meant some people go out and get a bike thinking they are gonna go top speed on straights and believe they are better riders than they really are cornering way above their ability. These are the ones that end up dead or getting rid of their bike in a month. I'm scared. I just want it to ride, get good gas mileage, have fun. You seem like you will be fine so get one take your time and learn it and it will be one of the most enjoyable things you can do.

lceah
good luck with all that rob (i didnt read it) LOL you are hilarious! on a serious note, I see the points...but one thing that wasn't mentioned: (maybe it's just in crazy southern Cali...but I see it all the time)...most of the time, the biker is not the reason for the accident...the biker can be the greatest biker and know how to ride very well and be overly cautious...BUT, the drivers around are STUPID! I pull to the side of the lane when a biker is approaching me on the freeway and they pass by and twice, I've seen the same bike in a crash with another car just a few miles after it passed by me...I have a lot of biker friends...I hear the stories...it's always some idiot driver or they do it on purpose too...maybe it's just Cali but it happens all the time when the drivers on purpose get into accidents...when I'm making a right, I always wait for the car that is turning into the same street to turn and then I go because so many times they are tricking you and they hit you... a friend yesterday was showing us his right leg and all the bruises on it from this accident where his bone broke from the middle and got out of the sides and some of the pieces were inside his SHOE! Hospitals see bikers come in with their leg pieces or arms...I've mentioned it before...one's head was inside his helmet on the side of the freeway and his body somewhere else...I'm not trying to scare you but there is a reason why people say bikes are dangerous! My friends stop riding much after one of their friends passed away because of it! It's tooooo sad!!! Again, I wanted a bike too, but after hearing stories and also my bf knocking some sense into my head, I didn't get a bike! sorry...it's sooo long!
