I'm tuttle- my other post is down below about the tranny trouble for a 99 Honda.

My car (which is as I speak IN the shop getting looked at (hopefully it wont cost an arm and a leg)

is about 93 000 miles and I know it would be smart of me to begin looking to trade up when it gets around 150,000 miles so I have started asking friends what kinds of cars they reccomend but while I am here on the Honda forum I thought I would ask if anyone can reccomend any of the Honda models like specifically around 2004 or 2005 or 2006 models?

Umm... how much do you drive that you want to get rid of your car in 57,000 miles, and are looking around right now?

Well, so far I'm out a couple thousand JUST replacing the normal wear and tear like the belts and hoses and such because I'm closing in on the 100,000 mile check-up and I accept that but then theres the unexpected surprises like this tranny problem thats not in the budget (nor SHOULD it be needed because i BOUGHT the Honda because of its reputation) (evidentally the group of people who were making the tranny's in '99 didnt give two rats asses about their job and now hundreds of us '99 Honda owners are getting the shaft. The only thing that would make me happy is if alot of the tranny guys were caught, fired and ended up working for Ford and are now once again out of work. But thats not how life works eh?)

So anyway I figure Honda's are good for at least 200,000 miles so if I trade up at 150,000 I should get a good return on the car and I still intend (if it hasnt pissed me off any more by then) to buy another used Honda at that time (probably around 2012 I figure.)So I would be looking at getting a 2009 or 2010 model by then.

I drive around 50 miles a day in normal traffic to and from work and i drive like a grandma so the car is well cared for. (except for the schumko moron who didnt seem to give a damn about the tranny he put into my car back in '99)

damn dude youre a little hostile just buy a tranny out of a junkyard, they arent very expensive for that stock motor

and BTW my 1990 civic wagon has 291,000 miles and it still runs pretty damn good

When people dont do things they are supposed to do it gets under my skin a bit yes.

Like making sure the SHIFT CABLE is set in place in such a way that it doesnt wind up getting in the way later on so that it makes it hard to shift the darn car. THATS just shoddy engeneering to me.

Anyway thats what the diagnostic is....i need a new shift cable --260 bucks

plus labor I figure I got off very cheap- i thought it was one of the gears...

and I do NOT have time to work on the car myself so a junkyard was out of the question and I seriously doubt a dealer is going to accept a junkyard part to put in there and if they do they would sure figure out some way to make up the loss in some way.

Yeah I am bitter but its only because people in general no longer seem to care about work ethic (yet they still expect to get a full days pay)
