I have an 97 Acura Integra Gs There are to probablems that are really pissing me off which are just getting worse when in sitting in neutral i hear like if something is spinning which is going on ever since i put the new motor in but if i push in the clutch th hissing noise goes away. now another probablem just came along when im driving it feels like something is gringins its coming from the tranny i changed the fluid it didnt do anyhing much when u down shift you hear it the most the lower the gear the the more you hear it sound like some thing is rubding hard and grinding hard. Can some one please tell me if my tranny is shot its getting worse and wose the noise Thanks

The spinning noise is the input shaft bearing.

The grinding is probably another bearing going out or a synchro.

Thanks man but shaft bearing is right on the shaft that come out of the tranny?

The grinding you really cant tell either exactly if its a synchro or a bearing so basically im better off just getting a new tranny? some one was telling me if it was a syncro every time i shift it would grind and once in a while that happens im confuse but how much a a tranny rubuild if thats the case?

the whirring sound your hearing are your mainshaft bearings. 70 bucks to replace them. the other noise your hearing , is the same thing , mainshaft bearings. when you downshift , it puts more load on the bearings without the engine noise so you can hear it more. and once again , its mainshaft bearings , not input shaft bearings. theres a mainshaft and a countershaft. simple , not complicated , for most anyways.

ISB doesn't cause a grind. Thats something with his synchro assembly. Could be the synchro itself, or the hub. A new OEM ISB and seal is $30.

hes not talking about grinding like your thinking. theres nothing wrong with his tranny , yet , but mainshaft bearings i assure you. that noise hes hearing while downshifting and loading the tranny , although it sounds like grinding , its the mainshaft bearings whirring , cause the races are damaged in the bearings. what does syncros have to do with a noise comming from the tranny with the clutch out , in a gear driving? you should know nothing at all.
