mcewball13
I've been hearing about these engine swaps from D series to K series, Is it worth it and what is estimated cost? i've got a 2005 Honda Civic LX with a D17A1 motor. No mods. Need help. I know absolutley nothing about imports. I'm a classic junkie. These imports are just starting to intice me. So I want to make this one not really fast but faster than what it is. I'm a complete Noob so be kind.
mycarsux
If you bought a 2005 civic lx and you wanna do a K swap now, why the hell didn't you buy an RSX or a Civic Si??

lceah
consider if swapping is what you wanna do instead of trading for a K series car... search around for a K engine...it's not too easy to find...good luck
H Bomb
hey bro i am in the same situation as you as i have a d17a1 also but in an 03 lx when you say not much faster what do you mean?? bc i have been searchin for months on this and there ain't much for our cars, muffler and intake are it for cheap bolt ons and i found a turbo for our car that is about 3k minus labor for k series swaps a k20a3 is gonna be around 3k and a k series a2 is about 4k and a k series jdm is around 5k all minus labor lmk what your looking to spend i will give you all the info i found

EH6TunerDaniel
Minus labor? Are you charging someone to put the motor in your car? It should be plus labor.
mycarsux
Yeah I think he means that the numbers he is giving don't factor in the labor costs. But yeah, he should have said plus labor.
03civda
In this situation, due to the cost (not to mention the work) involved in getting a K motor into your car, I would spend that money on a down payment on another car, or keep it and save it for parts on another car. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
H Bomb
yeah i meant plus labor lol i have noticed also today these complete engines aren't everything i need, i am gonna need axles, motor mounts and other stuff. i might be better off just trading it on a rsx
adamEj6
dude if you swap in a k series just do it yourself and if you dont wanna do the wiring which shouldnt be too hard its pretty simple to do a swap
SolLesHonda
K swap isn't as easy as most would think.
