H Bomb
ok so i pretty much have narrowed it down to 3 choices after reading here and talking to some honda friends. just wanted some opinions here bf making my choice #1 turbo my current d series engine. plus side, cheaper than engine swap. down side, all you can do at that point #2 swap to 04 si k series engine. plus side, major potential for power later down the road. down side, 5sp #3 swap to 02 plus rsx type s engine. plus side, major potential, down side, cost so what do you guys think??? Ben.
As opposed to the 6-speed bolted to the type s motor..it's a downside. lol.
Rick B.
b18c1 with CAI, skunk2 IM, skunk2 TB, header, and exhaust and you will have 200+hp, and it will pull hard.

H Bomb
b18c5.... i have been told by several highly rated honda techs that the only motor for my car that would be an easy swap would be a k series any other motor would require major work
H Bomb
umm all the cars i drive now are stick including this civic, what i meant was that i think the rsx 6sp engine would be better than the 5sp motor. personal op i guess how is a 5sp a down side? just learn to drive stick its more fun
H Bomb
several honda techs have told me k series is the only motor that would be an easy swap any other would require major work i wish a b series would fit there is a ton more stuff for them and the motors are cheaper b18c1 with CAI, skunk2 IM, skunk2 TB, header, and exhaust and you will have 200+hp, and it will pull hard. Rick B.
ok, the honda techs are lying to you. you could easily do a b-series swap, even more so than a k-series. the honda techs just want you to spend more money and do what they think is cool. Kegger
Actually B series are the hardest motors to put into that gen of civics. It far more complicated to do that swap than to just to do a K swap.
Rick B.
really? wow.
Kegger
Yep, remember, those cars were built around the K series and just adopted the D to fit in there. Ks are easy as hell to swap into them.
H Bomb
thats what i figured at first awesome i get a b series cheap and turbo the thing but after asking several several honda dyi's and mechanics none who i was buying a motor from they all said any other motor than a k will cost more to make it work then it should
Ben.
Oh, crap. He does have an 03. K would be a LOOOOT easier to put into that one.
