Pballer2005
i'm lost on impedence. i get that it has to do with the resistance of a currant, and thats about it. can someone explain what it is and how it relates to audio. for exaple a 2ohm load vs a 4 ohm load? thanx

So if you have a 4 ohm load, then your amp has to run at 4 ohms (it of course will). It primarily becomes more of an issue of impedences of 1 ohm and below. You'll get this when you have dual or quad voice coil woofers. Check out www.bcae1.com and use the guide on the right. GREAT explanations and I'm sure you'll get a better understanding reading from there.
cranny
the speaker is actually restricting the amount of power which pushes it. that is impedance. the lower the impedance , the less the speaker pushes back and the more power the amp can push through it.
