VitalSpeed_CRX
Thanks for the info so far. Talked to my boy out here, he has a fully built GSR on his desol and they only charged him $175 for his single piece mugen header. Any big reason why I should pay the extra 200+ bucks? Can some one post pics maybe even links to some headers. Only thing I found out was how there built some are 2 pieces some are a single piece.. which one is better single or 2 piece.? and why? just making sure i get the right/best one for the price before I buy my headers.. my cat back specs are 2.5 inch piping full stainless steel if that info helps. Thanks
airjordan223
it wasnt a real mugen header, it was a knockoff, thats why it was so cheap. theres several different types 4-2-1 4-1 one piece two piece ceramic stainless i have a dc sports 4-2-1 two piece stainless header two piece are easier to install, there might be some performance thing as well, but i dont know. typically a 4-2-1 header has better low end power, and a 4-1 header has better high end power. i might have those switched, someone correct me if im wrong. do a search on the site, theres tons of threads regarding this topic

TS John
Hell yeah, Nancy. "Open block" is where it's at. Just sort of shove the O2 sensor in one of the holes and you're good to go. Deffo get a 421 header for your D series. I got a 41 and I would never get another one. I notice more power at the top but less at the bottom. Since I drove most of the time in low revs that kinda sucked. If you wanna only spend like 150-200 bucks get a cheap knockoff header in mild steel and find someplace that does good quality ceramic coating (with a quarantee) and take it there before you install it. But your best bet is to just buy a good one for like 3-400.
..SSR..
SMSP big tube header + SMSP race exhaust took .3 off my 1/4 untuned, with a 60' .4 longer than my average. Has more balls than it did stock and more tits as well.

TS John
It might be true if you buy a cheapass 4-1. I'd believe it based off experience with my DC 4-1. And yeah, that link doesn't work.

VitalSpeed_CRX
Here is a review I got for the headers. Hedman Chikara 4-2-1 two-piece : Hats off to Hedman for designing a D-series header with a lot of interesting features. Not only does this design include stepped primaries, for improved velocity due to their anti-reversion inducing effect, it also includes an equalizer tube design to eliminate spent gases more efficiently. As a two-piece header it will be heavier than a one-piece (but easier to install) and it does appear to suffer from short primary and secondary merges, which look to be potential design limitations in terms of flow and velocity. Despite the merges, this header has a lot of potential to produce nice gains over a broad powerband and it's a very good value given the price and features like stepped primaries and an equalizer tube. Besides that 15-20 added HP.

TS John
Whoa. If that were true I would say buy that in a second. Not even SMSP is gonna gain you that on a D series and them's pretty much the best out there. Buy a DC sports, man. They're great for the money.
