H Bomb
hi guys new to this forum but not to the car forums. i recently took over my girls civic as she got a new car. i am gonna use this as my daily driver but it needs some performance. it is a 2003 Civic LX 2 door 5sp should i do an engine swap with it and call it a day or upgrade the current engine in it with some mods or possibly a supercharger??? i just did a full tune up on it about 3 weeks ago, timing belt, timing chain, water pump, filters, brakes etc lmk what you guys think thanks H
airjordan223
it depends on how much power you want to make and how much money is in your budget
SamLach
Do you really need a supercharger for daily commutes? I'd slap on an intake, header, and exhaust and call it a day
SolLesHonda
Maybe one header....

mycarsux
No, you don't need a supercharge for daily commutes. All you need is a car for daily commutes. The supercharger just makes your daily commutes faster. But yeah, what jordan said. Listen to him.
H Bomb
thanks guys for the replies, i don't mind spending a little money on it. i figured a B16 or B18 engine would be the same price as a supercharger??? i might just go the route of headers, intake and cat back i haven't found any headers for the D series motors though
Kegger
"Header" singular, you only have one. But look at DC sports, they got tons of stuff for D series motors.
airjordan223
header you can find them for a better price, but just showing you that they are out there. took about 5 seconds searching on google. the intake/header/exhaust combo will cost about a grand and net you 10-15 hp
Ben.
I use headers.

Ben.
If it's from an SI hatchback it isn't worth a damn unless you do a head swap.
H Bomb
it is the k20A3 engine which is the civic si and i think the k20a2 is from an rsx type s, they have both engines and are 1k difference in price what makes the hatchback bad?? if it is the whole motor why change the head?? thanks guys
Kegger
Cuz its only got 160 BHP.
Ben.
SI's k20 setup = 5 gears, different head that i think lacks something that has to do with an exhaust lobe during vtec or something, i think it only uses vtec on the intake or some crap..i don't know how to word it. i'm tore up from the floor up right now rsx-s k20 setup = 6 close gears (awesome) 200ish bhp, works wonders in lightweight cars
H Bomb
so if going si route which head would you put in it?? and if going rsx route it would be good to go??
lceah
rsx-s will be better because you wouldn't have to do the head swap and it will give you more power! and Intake/Header/Exhaust if you want... if you were to super/turbo charge it, I would go with a turbocharger for yours!
