Auto to Manual conversion

Hey all,

I haven't been on in a while but I think I've decided to convert to manual in my 94 dx hatch. Just a real fast question though. What manual tranny do I need to get for my D15b7? Is there like just a kit I can buy with the pedals and all the other crap I need for the conversion? Thanks so much all :)

no kit that i know of. you must piece together what you need. your better off selling the car in stock form and getting a manual car dude to be quite honest.

Alright, I'll send a PM their way. I was also considering doing a swap and just getting a motor that is with a 5 speed tranny and just take all of the parts that my car doesn't have out of the junk yard one. May be a little easier that way and I can get something like a B series with some more horsepower to play around with. :D

Thanks all!

Yeah, it'd be better if you plan on doing a swap to just hold off on it until then. Just look into a complete swap (longblock, trans, linkage, ecu). Then you'll just need a few miscellaneous (but important, nonetheless lol) pieces for the auto-manual conversion.

I agree...AT to MT conversion is too expensive...unless if it's a benz that you really want to have it manual, for other cars, just buy the manual! :)

If he's just going to do an engine swap, and do the at-mt when that's done, then there's no point in buying one that's already manual.

you are right, for an engine swap. In his first post though, he didn't want to do an engine swap that's why...now he is considering it, so he can just do AT/MT conversion! :)

Not really just for the AT/MT conversion....I pretty much need to do a swap anyway so it was always in the back of my mind. If you look above, I have a D15B7. nuff said :D

you will need pedals, shift linkage(with bitch pin), halfshaft, axles, short shifter, earls -4 steel braided line, slave cylinder, clutch cylinder, clutch reservoir, shift boot along with rubber seal, dust shield for the tranny and of course auto to manual passenger tranny mount.

I don't remember which color they were but you have to splice together two wires where the auto shifter was. You also have to drill two new holes when you put in the stock shifter. Mine ran fine with the stock auto ECU.

I have MT pedals for you if you want them.

$50 shipped OBO.

let me know.

Not sure what I'm going to do now. Just exploring my options. I'll let you know if I decide to go that route :)

I've heard the cable tranny cars are a lot easier to do the AT2MT conversion than the hydro cars.. I dunno if that's true or not. You'd think it wouldn't be THAT bad on a hydro car.

I've been mistaken worse though. lol.

I don't know. I'd really like to do it but everyone makes it sound impossible...Is it really THAT much a pain in the ass. I'm a patient guy and I'm willing to take my time, just need some direction on how to do it and such. Learning experience is worth the bullcrap IMO.

I have done it. It is a PITA. Then again, I cut out the stock auto tranny mount on the frame and welded it back so the 5 speed would fit. This was a long time ago. You should really consider buying one that is already a 5 speed and save yourself the headache.

There is slightly more work involved when going hydro opposed to cable. Nothing serious at all though.
