Cost of Paint and Body work?

I have a '94 Civic sedan with a R34 body kit on it and I want to get the whole car painted a nice royal, like WRX, blue. I also have a few dents and dings and my passenger side 1/4 panel and rear door. I was wondering what the price range may be for doing this. Thanks for any help and God bless.

Price range will be 2500-5000 or so. My dad had his del sol painted STI blue and it ran him around 2600, but the body was in really good condition and didn't need much body work. If you have quite a bit of body work I'd expect closer to 4000-5000. Plus every body shop will vary so your best bet is to get quotes from some reputable shops in your area.

yeah thats a lil pricey...is it just cause its the sti blue?...

cause i want to have my car painted factory color again, with little body repair (some dents, dings, and scratches, some from my mechanic  ) i know it depends on the shop, but in your'alls opinion what does that run for?

the reason it is so expensive is because all of the man hours put into it. the paint doesnt really matter that much, unless your doing a candy or something like that. i just had to pay for the clear and paint on mine and it was $300 i think because i did all the labor. i dont think you want to cheap out on painting a car, because like John said, it really does make a difference. id say $2500 minimum for a job that you want, but expect up to $5000 for one done well

If you can do the body work yourself and just have the paintjob done it will cost considerably less too. Thats what im doing and im lookin at around a couple hundred for paint labor.

Do the body work yourself, or have a friend do it if you know someone. Then do all of the wetsanding yourself or with a friend. My CRX cost $1700 when I had someone paint it years ago, around $300-400 this time around (cost of supplies). Same with the Sol, around $300-400 + I gave the guy who painted it $500.

I'm having a few experienced friends help me prep, tape pff, and primer my car, then taking it to Maaco for paint. After that I'm giving it to a guy at my work who wetsands and he can get off any orange peel or imperfections....

Shouldn't cost more than $1000 after everything.

If you end up with any orange peel, you should be able to get rid of it yourself after you go through learning all of the prep work.

I'm looking forward to seeing how that works out for you, Dan, since it's entirely possible that I'll do the same thing at some point if it looks nice. It should prolly be well under 1k as well, since they have specials on the top quality paint jobs that are usually around 400-500 bucks without prep work.

Good call, look into paying for extra clear coat.

I would love to get my car sprayed with Honda paint (like EBP or GBP) and then get Mercedes clear over it. Best of both worlds.

Do you mean Honda color, cause any company can mix up that color. Yeah, Honda clear sucks butt. So soft it swirls if you look at it funny. Mercedes clear is hard and swirls less, but takes longer to remove the swirls once they are there. Lesser of two evils I suppose.

I just meant the Honda pearliness and all. I love that.

I'd deffo prefer the less-swirly harder clear, simply because if you clean it right then it won't swirl much. Then again my paint it so swirled right now and I don't know anyone with a buffer that I just don't care anymore.

I would love Mercedes Clear....that stuff is tough as nails, but as Hung said, if and when the swirls come, it takes a little more effort to remove (heavier compounds/wool pad = no fun...)

I do love detailing Mercedes though....very nice clear to deal with.
