Cost of engine swap

Recommended Posts

I am putting a B16A2 into my '94 honda civic sedan and I do not have the time or the tools to do the swap myself so I'm going to take it to a shop to get it done. I was wondering what the price range may be for this swap. Thanks for the help and God bless.

I'd pay good money to see it done... to my car.

Can you imagine how sweet it would be? Your friends go in to see a movie and when they get out you suddenly have a brand new engine in your car.

Edit: And you've driven it around for an hour.

i talked to this guy with a gsr sol at a HIN. he had this company in mass swap the motor. he said he dropped off the car, walked across the street for lunch, walked back and it was done. he thought they were kidding. but thats a very experienced shop with several guys working. a single person could not do it in 45 minutes

"oh you can't change an engine in under an hour....I can....."

im gonna agree with pyro here. if you can do it in under an hour by yourself, then how come shops charge $1000 or so to install it? the rate is per hour, and shops charge what $60. do the math.
