my sub makes random noises by itself. when i turn the audio all the way down it makes weird throbbing sounds. when i turn the H.U. off, as in when i push the power button while the car is still running, it makes the same sounds. the sounds seem to go away when i play music, but its hard to tell. i can't figure our if a problem with my amp or with my H.U. the throbbing is almost rythmic, like there's interference from something but i dunno what cuz it's never done this before and i haven't changed anythign.

check the power cable coming from the battery, sounds like its surging. possibly your alternator is overpowering the sub causing the sounds

update: i think there' something wrong with the HU pre-amps. when i plug the amp into the sub pre-amps on the back of the headunit, its makes this noise, when i plug it into the "rear speaker" pre=amp, it doesn't make the sounds. hope that helps

So assuming I guess it doesn't make any sound when there is no RCA cable plugged into your amp. Did you run your RCA cables along with your power cable? Might be getting some interference.

correct there is no sound when i disconect the rca's which give me the conclusion that its the HU. i've had my power cables run along side my audio cables since i got everything (christmas 06) and never had any intereferance and like i said the sound goes away when i plug the rca's into a different pre-amp output.
