Wendy
Hey Guys, I am fixing the water leaks I posted here a couple of weeks ago today on my Del Sol. This is what I am attempting: http://www.teamdelsolwa.com/howto/drainblock.htm So far my drains were plugged a bit wih mud so I am blowing those out. My step dad who is a pro mechanic is helping me. We are having trouble pulling off the back panel below the window. Any tricks? It says pull gently but it won't pop off and I am afraid to break it. Thanks guys! -Wendy

TS John
Most of the time things like that are held on with clips, so there's no risk of breaking anything even though it feels like there will be. Hope it fixes your problem. Out of curiosity, do you have the classic leaky sol trunk? I can't figure out where it's coming from but I'd sure like to fix that. TS John
Interesting. I hadn't thought about that being a source of the leaks.

Thanks guys! -Wendy I am back 3 years later and my damn drains are plugged AGAIN on my Del Sol and these current CA rainstorms that we are being slammed with are not helping. A lot of water sloshing! When all the rain quits, I will have to go through this again.

Wendy
Hi Everyone, So My stepdad and I tried something different. We went under the car, located the tubes and unplugged them a bit. We also blew them out with an air compressor. We only saw a couple of drips at first and were pretty disappointed as we thought it did not work. After my car sat parked for a bit and when I moved it we saw quite a bit of water drain out on the cement and the best part no more sloshing...yay! I know this is only a temporary fix. The proper thing to do is to take the back panel off and drain them that way. I just want to wait till winter and the rain is over. -Wendy
Wendy
I am back 3 years later and my damn drains are plugged AGAIN on my Del Sol and these current CA rainstorms that we are being slammed with are not helping. A lot of water sloshing! When all the rain quits, I will have to go through this again. Hi guys and gals..... Well I just finished going through the whole "tearing out your interior to unplug drains scenerio," for the second time in four years.....damn those drains! Big pain in the arse! Whoever designed 90 degree drain tubes??? *shakes fist in air* argghhh Why can't they go straight down??? They get clogged so easily! So it looks like I need to replace the rubber (weather stripping) on the back window. Looks like one piece that snaps in. Do you guys think this is the only place where the water could be leaking in to the whole draining system around the back window? My weather stripping there is shot. I think I can easily order this part from Honda and snap it in...probably have to take the interior apart just to get this in. Arrrggghhh! Looks like it easily snaps in. Any you attempted this? If so did this fix your drain leak problem once and for all? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Wendy
MChester
So, you are thinking because the molding is worn and has a gap, that it is allowing bigger stuff (leaves, sticks, bug) past the molding and those big pieces are clogging you drains? Makes sense if you have bigger than normal gaps I suppose. Let us know how it does once the new molding is in place for a while.
airjordan223
Before you go ripping that all out and having honda probably overcharge you for the weather stripping, make sure that is exactly where the leak is. you can try using water and a hose, but if you have an air compressor that would work better and you wont have a car full of water. Yes, because this is the only area that I know for fact that the water is seeping in and it gets clog more easily because the gap is now bigger with the shot weather stripping. I know water is designed do go into that area or why would be there be drains? I will let you all know how it goes.

Good advice! I know for fact that is where the main water source is coming from. Do you know another good source for the window weather stripping part besides overpriced Honda? Ebay? Raley
Maybe you have crap still stuck in there.
Wendy
Maybe you have crap still stuck in there. Drains are completely cleaned, water flows in and out so no more clogs as of yet.....but future clogs can happen because of the gap in the weather stripping allowing more dirt, leaves etc I know the answer.....I am just gonna replace it.....the end. Thanks for your help everyone.
Raley
i don't mean in the actual lines, i mean like a leaf or 2 stuck in the center, or even a mouse that is slowly melting into the tubes.
