1.5 94 s best upgrade?

I might get a 94 s for $500. that is a daily driver. good shape from buddy.

I know it is an s. that is fine. I will clean it up CAI ehaust and clean body in/out wheels first. then tunes

but as a toy car, what are the best upgrade paths for the non vtech that can wring some fun out of it for piece parts under $2000? $1000?

can you just swap vtech 1.5 head? on it. but then again if the head is $800 for only 25hp is it worth it?

are there new gen swap that literally drop in with minor work? k20?

or is worth just headers, intake, cai on stock 1.5 and throw a supercharger..

I think turbo would be two expensive and custom? I think a drop in s/c over intake would be easier?

Any of the ways to boost power are gonna take time and money... In some cases lots of both.

The easiest one would just be swapping the heads, and doing the whole I/H/E route. Not gonna be real fast but peppy enough to keep you happy til you learn more about engine builds.

Also use our oh so wonderful search option. It really does come in handy.

thanks, thats what I figured. I tried the search (doesn't like 3 letter queries 1.5l/ del sol s)

so what head can I swap or search for?

I think throwing the Z6 (VTEC) head on the D15 is called the "mini-me"? Correct me on that.

That plus I/H/E and a nice clutch and suspension setup (brakes too) will deffo make you happy. S models are still plenty of fun in my opinion, unless you're a real speed freak. You can make them plenty peppy with that stuff, easy.

thanks that is what I am founding out.

I see on hmotorsonline for like $800 I can get a full D15B with tranny, ecu, and motor and warranty. I guess with with a I/H/E on that I should be at $150

I also saw a b16 long block for 1200 with ecu. I guess I could get a tranny for another 200 and be at 170hp then I/H/E and at 190

am I missing something

so where can i get a D16 head online?

It looks like the D16Y8 head is better then the z6? 3 more hp, lower vtech shift point (4200rpm vs 5500 rpm)

I guess that is all controlled in ECU anyway and can be changed.

Yeah, you can go Y8 if you want. Which is better is unclear to me. I'm not sure what you mean by a lower VTEC shift point... so...

D15Bs (not to be confused with D15B7s) are good platforms for boost. So are B16s, but the B series will be more fun stock guaranteed.

Getting 20 horses out of I/H/E is optimistic, but realistic if you get top notch parts and get a piggyback and retune once they're installed.

It's VTEC.

Get an Intake, Header, Exhaust, Y8 Head, Y8 HG, Y8 IM, B18 TB, Y8 Distributor, New plugs/Wires, Tune on Crome.

BAMF for an internally stock D.

will y8 fit with a b7? or just a b7 to z6?

I got HG,IM,TB but what is BAMF?
