I want to build an engine...I want it as a daily driver, but i also want to race the crap out of it...but then after the races drive it home with no problems...so what engine would be the best and how should i build it...I'm open to all opinions.

Thanks

get a gsr swap, put a skunk2 intake manifold on it, and larger throttle body, and a cold air intake. that will be enough

set of pistons too maybe. get your compression up. dont build a turbo car for circuit.

you have no idea what youre talking about ebp. my gsr only had bolt ons at the 1/8 mile strip here in san diego and it did very well. i had quicker 1/8 mi tmes than the single cam turbo civics. bolt ons on a gsr really make a big difference. chubs can tell you the difference he felt when he got his skunk2 intake manifold.

A 9.3 on a 1/8 mi is a good time

and i got it with steelies.

I was about to say.....Single Cam turbo? Unless it's fully built, it would also be slow.... If it was fully built, a bolt on GSR wouldn't come close to it.

single cam turbo civics are not fast.

13 seconds is not fast.

Not at all.

My buddy's k20 eg is running sub 8's in the 1/8th mile on catback, 70 shot and dr's. By sub 8's I mean 8.09 and whatnot.

ebp, does your civic run a 13 sec 1/4. if it doesnt, then 13 secs is fast compared to you.

Wonder if it's in the 14's..

Seriously though. I've never asked.

A bolt on I/H/E SI, will take a really good driver to break into the 14's. My del sol had (essentially) the same motor, less weight with those 3 bolt on's and I bet I was running about a 15 flat. Maybe high 14 with a great launch.

Gah I strongly dislike the b16..

The only things I've ever had FROM a b16 were a head on an itr block, with supertech valvetrain and itr cams..and b16 tranny on that motor/head combo..

Ran pretty damn good..14.1 and 14.0 on dr's. And that was in a '92 hatch.

my gsr civic had no problems hitting mid to low 14s with the im, tb, cai, header, exhaust, and vtec set at 4800rpms. this was also with a jdm tranny.

my brother and i got the same time

I'm not calling BS, but I would like to see your timeslip. Curious as to what your 60', etc... was.

Billy, sorry man.

SI's are not fast and wouldn't run 14's with your mods. All you have is an intake.

Your suspension isn't necessarily helping you either. Only mods you have are intake and painted valve cover, right?

And to Rbolander who said single cam civics are slow, unless built, that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Many SOHC's are stock making 200-280whp. They would eat any GSR swapped civic alive - with bolt ons or not. GSR civics run mid-high 14's.

I'm the one that said they're slow unless they're built. Show me a 280whp SOHC on completely stock motor that's lasting any decent length of time.
