mycarsux Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 So what's the process you guys use to register for classes?? I got up at 5:45 this morning logged onto SIS and started registering. I got kicked out of registering an uncountable amount of times because everyone registers at the same time and its first come first serve. And I went through 3 liberal arts before I got into one, then I found out its the worst class you could ever choose. And I'm really freakin tired and I need sleep. Now I gotta go to class and it's 8:00AM.
TLontheDL Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 What i did was the same thing you did. Wake up early and register but for us, registration starts at 7am sharp. Also there was VIP registration for those who are honor students. I knew a few that were in the honors program and had them register for the class that I wanted and when it came time for me to register, I told them when to drop so that the opening was available for me - WUT?! WUT?!
Xeryon Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 OSU was staggered. You went in blocks based alphabetically over a period of a couple days. You only wanted 4-5 classes but everyone registered for 10-15. When registrations were done then they applied the filters to determine who actually got the classes. Upperclass got first pick on everything and after that it was based on gpa. 4.0 got priority and then on down the line.
BuddySol Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Does anyone register over the phone anymore? Mark didn't you? we're about the same age...geez...i think I've dated myself... =X Anyhow, ours was blocked off by school year then divided up into smaller blocks by social. So it was never really bad getting classes once I got passed sophomore year. For a while this was by phone, but later upgraded to online. Community college was a different story. Once the phone systems were up, it was every student for themself...OH THE HORROR. Longest I've sat there dialing like I was getting tickets from ticketmaster was 1 hour. Most of the time, when it started hitting 15 minutes, I said screw it I'll just play my odds of bumping people out during add/drop period the first week of classes.
TLontheDL Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 yes of course i remember doing it by phone. i believe the school i went to still does that. we also go by your year (sr, jr, so, etc.) and then it went by the last 4 digit of your social. if you miss your time of registration, you have to wait for the WHOLE list (by yr and social) then everybody was free to register at the same time. it sucks missing your time to register. i dreaded registering for class b/c i had to talk to advisors sometime.
mycarsux Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 You used to be able to register on the phone here but they got rid of it. Supposedly it was like the best way too.
