Xeryon Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 So I found this today. Looked interesting, but I know very little about tegs their conditions and values. What I know: A GSR that I "think" is a 95. It does have 118k and it has a JacksonRacing SC, AEM V2 intake, 4-2-1 headers and a newer cat-back exhaust. I have no idea the brands on the the header or exhaust at the moment. Body wise it is a B/B+. There is one dent in the left rear quarter and a rust spot the size of a quarter in the back corner of the rear wheel well by the bumper on each side. I didn't drive it, but the word is that it is in good running conditon. Questions I have: Approximate gas milage? (sc would change stock milage, so an opinion please) This would be wifes car and she has a bit of a commute. She drives like my grandma, so getting on it hard is a rarity. Approximate hp after the parts I have listed? Guess as to the value. Aftermarket parts are a real toss up on value, I know. But what would the more knowledgable people estimate this at? Guy was asking $5500, which seems quite high to me. It might be able to be had for $4500-$5000, but that still seem high to me.
TS John Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 If she never gets on it why get a supercharged teg for her? Buy my del sol for 2800 bucks. It's a great car for someone who drives like a grandmother and you could have fun in it too when you drove it, although obviously not nearly like in the teg. But half the price.... Plus chicks are hot in del sols.
CleanGSR Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Assuming that the engine has good compression and is in good shape overall, I'd guess around 210-220whp and probably between 180-190wtq. Should be good for a 14 flat or high 13 with a decent suspension/tires/driver. THings that would concern me: Engine is disguistingly filthy. If someone can't take the time to keep the engine clean, then I'd be shocked if they stayed on top of the maintenance and didn't beat on the car. Obviously the fake Mugen valve cover is a bit ricey, but that could be switched. How many miles on the supercharger setup? 118,000 miles on a teg is no big deal, but 118,000 supercharged miles driven hard, is a big deal.
Humphries Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 thats a really nice teg.. i like everything but the rims, fake mugen valve cover and the steering wheel isnt bad. but at 118k miles and 5500 would be a really good deal for a SC GSR.

90IntegraC1 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 bwahaha that's a DEAL! i'm asking $5500 for mine and it's sh!t compared to that! ahhhh, i want it.
mycarsux Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Yeah man be careful with this one. Its pretty highly modded. I always get bad feelings when I see modded cars for sale. Especially boosted ones. But its pretty nice. Good deal if it runs well.
CRG7 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 It looks pretty beat (body, tint, interior). On top of that, I personally wouldn't purchase it regardless due to the mods.
Xeryon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 Interior isn't too bad. The drivers seat is a little worn because its leather and its dirty cause the guy that owns it has a mudpit gravel drive. Body is a little rough around the edges, but all cars in ohio are that way because they smother everything in salt so bad. Any car driven semi often in winter will rust in 5 years unless you are religous about washing and waxing. The mods cause me to be a bit wary too, but on the flip side you are picking up mods at a fraction of the original cost so its a trade off. It actually isn't what I would call highly modded. It has i/h/e and the sc, but didn't appear to have anything else done that I could see or the guy selling knew about. I'll find out about the milage on the sc and the make on the h/e. TS John: Why buy a sc teg for my wife? Why not? I'm sick of driving a slow pos 98 Accord EX 4dr AT 4cyl. She drives the accord because she has minimal interest in cars. So if she likes this one I am going to jump all over that s***. Whenever we go out we take her car because it is cleaner and nicer. Hence, when we go out I get to drive the teg! :-)
Chubs Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 That is a great deal for that teg, but like everyone else said I dont know about the supercharger, depending on how the guy/girl drove the car and how long it has been on there could have put a real strain on the motor. Also looking at the car in general I can tell that whoever the owner is they didn't take very good care of the car, the interior has wear in the seats, the plastics have paint missing, the engine bay is extremly dirty. I bet whoever the owner is will say they bought the car with all the mods and havn't changed it becuase I know that no matter who you are if you care enough to buy mods for your car you are going to take care of it.
CleanGSR Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Not true. If mommy and daddy pay for the mods bought for a car, then the kid won't appreciate the car enough to take care of it. I wouldn't be shocked if that's the case on this one.
Xeryon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 Who knows? The story I got is that he bought this from a friend who was hard up for cash and now has been stuck with it for a few months and he is hurting for it. The car isn't registered at the moment. I believe him when he says hes never driven it except to test it when buying it and for trying to sell it. I don't think he could afford the insurance, let alone premium gas. He lived in a run down part of town, yard was littered with car parts, all the vehicles he had that were "his" were all 15+ years old. I do not think this was ever his car and I believe him, he doesn't look like the type/class.
CleanGSR Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I definately wouldn't trust the car then. There's no telling what the actual owner of the car did to the car. This car sounds like a string of headaches, waiting to happen in my opinion.
Xeryon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 Possibly. He was on a busy street. Trying to hide a stolen car out in the open doesn't work real well though. I agree with you Hung, after thinking about it some more I'm not sure I would want it anyway. To have spent that kind of money for a SC and not made sure it was babied does raise questions. Looks like mabye the first owner loved it, and subsequent owners just beat on it. Thread finished, not interested in the car anymore.
Monty Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I'm sick of driving a slow pos 98 Accord EX 4dr AT 4cyl. I'll race your accord with mine. See what's slow > There's nothing wrong with accord, I burn neons/nissans/other hondas where I live all the time, partly because they're rice and don't know how to drive. Sad part is my car is a stock 4 dr EX,...4 years older than your's too
Xeryon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 I don't know the specifics, but yours is alot lighter too. Knowing how to drive isn't the issue. Hell it cannot even spin the tires from a start on wet pavement! 0-60 in 5 mins.

Hell it cannot even spin the tires from a start on wet pavement! 0-60 in 5 mins. Oh, well I dunno what to tell you, I can spin my tires from a start pretty much no matter the conditions
CleanGSR Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I was spinning hard in 4th this morning, and I was only doing about 40mph when I did it......of course the roads were really snowy/icey this morning.
90IntegraC1 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 i spin 1st, 2nd, 3rd real quick, then catch traction and bog down to nothing....Honduh FTL.
Xeryon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Posted February 1, 2007 The good news is that this car isn't what I really wanted, but the wife did take a bit of a liking to the style. I think I could get her out of the accord and into a 4dr gsr, no problem. Shes says to me "can I get an automatic?" I replied, "They don't put autos in real cars". Obviously they do, as you can get an auto vette among other things. Was the GSR offered with an auto at any point? That way I can make sure to stear clear of those years.
Humphries Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 i dont spin because i like tires to have tread.
mycarsux Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Was the GSR offered with an auto at any point? That way I can make sure to stear clear of those years. I want to say no but I'm not 100% sure.
Kegger Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I think that the 92-93 GSR might have had the option but they are rare as hell.
