i drive a 98 civic 1.6 sohc ex and i was wandering how do i tell if its a vtec or not... i would post a pic up my digi is working so if you have a pic of how you would know plzz post.....thnxs

its an ex so it is a vtec motor. when you drive it, dont you notice a difference in the sound of the engine when you go past 5500 rpms? maybe a little power boost? thats vtec.

when ever i hit 5500 rpm i do notice a sound difference but i was sure because my cold air in take has a byspass valve thing ama bob. and it has a sieolnoid(spellcheck) type looking thhing but i wasent sure

If you look in the sticking forums they show you how to tell. Ex has one 1.5 doesn't 1.6 does, i believe..

You will hear the sound difference alright but as for the power boost...you won't really notice it with the SOHC engine.

DVTEC kicks in at 4,400.

well i put a vteck controller on my ride i have it hit at 6750

vtec kicks in in a GSR at 4400 as well , lol.

92-95 kick in at 4800, 96-00 d kick in at 5500 :nono:
