KingKoopa
I want a motor to swap in my civic for around these 3000 dollar tags... with the complete change over kit. Why wouldnt I go with the H22 over the b18? Same price but more power? Any thing special about the GSR motor over the H22??? Thx for the help. H22A Type S 97-98 Complete Motor,Trans,Ecu 220Hp 163Trq 11.0 Compression (JDM) $ 3600.00 Plus shipping and handling. http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000se...&item=30017 B18C 94-97 (GSR) Complete Change Over 180Hp 126Trq 10.6 Compression (JDM) 170Hp 121Trq 10.1 Compression (USDM) $ 3149.00 Plus shipping and handling. http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000se...&item=30009
Ben.
Look around and do the math. b18b1/c1/c5 swaps are WAAAAAAY more common than h22 swaps. And for what reason? Easier to modify..a little cheaper in some scenario's..more of a tranny selection.. I mean with the h22 you have..little to choose from.
Humphries
... ALL honda engines are good, just pick one.. dont ask questions. learn about them all then pick one from an educated opinion.
cranny
if you got the money dude , go with H22.
KingKoopa
Theres isnt much of a price differance... I mean 200 hp from the H22 or 200 hp from maybe the 1.8 liter Type R Integra motor or even the K20 but those motors cost way more... like 1000+ more, plus these kits will come with everything i need right? I dont need the ac or power steering... already have it removed on my 98 civic dx. The d16 motor is weak as f*ck. 108 hp? haha Twice the hp means twice the speed right? KingKoopa
Ha. The H22 has alot more torque as well... that would really launch that booger, maybe with a little boost?!
91H22Accord
one reason why a lot of people rather go with the b series is that you need to cut the engine mounts if you go to an h22..and that means if you blow the motor., You need to stick to another h22., unlike with the b series, you can swap a b18a-c or a b16 or even the older model b17. but if you have teh money, deff go with the h22, that would be a nice project. Your lookin about a 5000 swap altogehter, engine mounts, install, your going to need lsd, etc. if your going to do it, do it right, can't go bootleg on a h22
Buddy Cole
only reason why i would go with a gsr over an h22 would be weight issues for handling, but thats it. h22 allt he way my friend.
Humphries
lol h22 isnt but about 30 lbs heavier than a b18.. if you got a h22 and a carbonfiber hood, it'd even out.
Rick B.
i say gsr, but im biased.

91H22Accord
well, you can weld the stock motor mounts back on then...f22 would fit too
Ben.
I thought you could avoid messing with your mounts if you got a mount kit?
CleanGSR
lol h22 isnt but about 30 lbs heavier than a b18.. if you got a h22 and a carbonfiber hood, it'd even out. Very good point about the hood. The more I think about the H22, the more I agree it's a good choice. If you want to do road racing and stuff, this would be hard to beat. A good suspension could overcome the extra weight up front and the added torque would be a huge help in canyon driving. For NA, H22 is the way to go, for boost, B18C1. ..SSR..
Still screws it. Some HC guys have swapped B's in after running the D and still feel the car is front heavy even after adjusting the suspension setup. I say F20B+D trans.
KingKoopa
Well thx for the advice guys. Im probably going to look for an H22, the value to HP and Trq is worth it compaired to the GSR motor I think... plus I of course plan on adding go fast goodies tot he INTERNAL of the motor so I'd rather start out with something a litttle bigger/better than the jap motor. KingKoopa
Ok by Jap motor I ment the JDM version. LOL h22 would be a domestic choice of course... i think... anyway the GSR motor came in 2 differnet versions 180 hp domestic or 190 hp JAP version. Thats why i said that. But thx for the info. BTW I am a raciest bigot i hate NIggas and Spikket fences. JP
CleanGSR
I don't understand why you say "of course" There's jdm and usdm versions of the H22. Actually the H22A is a "jap" motor and the GSR motor is USDM. GSR motor is 170 hp.
..SSR..
If you are going to do internals, ditch the H22. You'll have to resleeve it.

For every 10 H-powered hatchbacks or coupes I see I see 100 b-swapped cars. They just really don't have that big a fan platform. Just, if you get the H..don't brag to the big dogs with the k-swaps. They WILL f*ck you up. lol.
